Thanks a lot - I had made a similar device but didn't think of using a live.dial rather than a standard object as output.
I'll definitely try that - many thanks for the tip.

Display note on Ableton Push
Hello all,
I would like to build a Max For Live MIDI effect showing the note played on the Ableton Push screen - that would make getting comfortable with the isometric keyboard much easier.
It is easy to have a M4L MIDI effect displaying the note in an object, but does anyone know how I can have ...

"Best of" bank of parameters
Hi all
Does anyone know whether one can implement a bank of "best of" parameters for plugins? Currently the first 8 parameters configured seem to appear as best of parameters, but it would be great to have flexibility to amend this.
The reason I ask is that while macro controls mapping is very ...

Re: drum rack ideas because of push
Not sure if I understood perfectly what you have in mind, but you can do that already.
Just place an instrument/Battery plugin/etc. in the drum rack and in the routing options select "All notes" as input.
With this you can use the drum rack and therefore the Push sequencer with a pitched ...

Re: Push developer kit: M4L devices for Push!
Hi flocked - thanks for the work on this!
The polygome device works fine on Live 9.0.2, however it doesn't (showing just the normal grid as Dchild describes) in the latest beta (9.0.3 b3)
Here are the results for the tests under 9.0.3b3 (and between brackets the result under 9.0.2)

Re: Browser instrument name display
On mine the names are definitely all truncated, none is abbreviated (for instance the first Core Library Analog Bass presets appear as "Acoustic Almost", "Dual Osc 1 Wow...", "Dual Osc2 Rubber, "Dual Osc 3 Buzz O", "Dual Osc 4 Plasti" and so on)

Re: Does your Push do this?
Mine does this if you plug it to a power socket without plugging the USB cable in. It does look very good in the dark!

Re: Browser instrument name display
Bumping this as I have the impression my browser is actually behaving a bit weirdly.
On all the videos posted by users or trainers I've seen, instruments appear in the browser with abbreviated names (say "AnalgSawBass.adg" for Analog Saw Bass)

Re: Adding your instruments to the "sound" category?
For some reason it's not described in the manual, but it's possible. You just need to save your instruments into folders named after the existing Sounds category. Say you save a device in your User Library in a folder called "Bass", it will show up alongside factory content in the Sounds category ...

Browser instrument name display
Starting to play around with the Push and I am seriously impressed...
Just one small bit. Is there any way to customise the way the Push browser abbreviates instrument names? There are a few issues as for instance the first 4 or 5 instruments in the "Orchestral" sounds folder appear as "Alto Flute ...

Re: Live 9's new Browser - tutorial
Very clear tutorial - thanks!
You may want to add a description of how to make User Library instrument racks show under Sounds alongside Ableton racks as I'm not sure it is really explained in the manual.
If you save your own racks in the User Library under Instruments/Bass, Instruments/Pad, etc ...
