Re: LIVE 9 : PDC IMPROVED OR NOT ?

meanwhile you're sitting at work with a sharpened pencil stuck up your ass.
Just some friendly advice:
if you must stick things up your own or someone elses arse, make sure they are blunt.
That pencil could easily pierce your intestines and you'll be wearing pampers the rest of your life.

Re: Surprised by Ableton Reverb

IMHO, it all comes down to what sounds you like. I've you've grown accustomed to the lexicon sound (or whatever algo verb), you'll not like Valhalla...Just a matter of taste... I'm a huge lexicon fanboy (224,70,80,15II)and still like and own valhallaroom. Valhalla shimmer might be a better choice f...

Re: New install location for windows installer?

At least we now know for sure Live 8 will not wear the compatible with Windows 7 logo 8O Rule nr 2: Install to the correct folders by default http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd203105.aspx Windows provides specific locations in the file system to store programs and software components, shared...

Re: research...These Live Devices do not compensate delays :

if i remember correct, Live is not designed to be sample accurate.
That's why i expect phase issues in general when using live.
Also, not everything is compensated:

Re: what is more CPU intensive? midi or audio?

If you mean "pure" midi, which you use to drive hardware synths using a midi interface then it is much, much, less cpu intensive than audio. Computers in the 80's were fast enough for 100 midi tracks, but could not play audio. The nineties brought native audio, the 00's vst instruments. Th...

Re: Does it matter if a bunch of grouped tracks go above 0 dB?

One small addition - Ive noticed that some VSTs act funny when the input is above 0db (according to Live). I usually put a Utility in before the VST if that's the case. Personally I try to keep my levels under 0db, if only to make the metering easier to read. Yes, regardless what live can handle th...

Re: COME ON ABES GIVE US SOMETHING !!!

They just gave us 8.2.7 which apparently includes an improved delay compensation option in preferences. Many people were complaining that something like that should be in Live 9. But instead they gave it to us now & for free in Live 8. A version number is just a number, just like age is just a ...

are you sure this is not something which is specific for the uad?
Uad has it's own ways to handle buffers.

Re: Recording analogue machines (Juno, 808, 909..) with Ableton.

Yes, it will.
I've never come across a soundcard that can capture an 808's live sound exactly.
But you should not worry about it, it will sound good enough.

Re: Maschine swarm-How do you handle latency issues-Video inside

I don't record in Live because of this, record only in machine patterns . This has been bugging me since at least live 5, the more tracks, the more timing pain. Disabling monitoring for the track might correct it, there's a hatefull thread about that. Not sure but i think if you disable monitoring a...

Re: MASCHINE VST sequencing different hardware synths?

If you search around you'll find that it's not possible, there quite a lot of people frustrated by this.
You have to use one instance of machine per synth.
