Agreed for multi-clip editing or at least viewing!

Re: Clip Editor: Envelope Box toggle keymappable
What's an input manager? Well, it's actually an API term I'm borrowing, but I'm using it to mean any application that intercepts and transforms user input (mouse/keyboard/etc) before the application with focus. This technically includes the OS, but that doesn't really count. Hotkey and mouse macro ...

Re: frequency splitting?
I agree with Rap Masta. You can slice down to as many frequency ranges as you have the patience for with proper filtering. You can also use a rack-driven approach based around many instances of the multi-band dynamics plugin as shown here: http://surroundsoundrecordings.co.uk/2011/10/production-tuto...

Re: Arranger MIDI workflow questions
Well, I made a few posts in the Feature Wishlist forum, so I guess we'll see. Studio One: I'm really torn on this. On paper, they do everything really well. It's missing features from Cubase, but it's also a lot cleaner than Cubase. The MIDI and multi-timbral VST workflows in particular are really a...

Re: Clip Editor: Envelope Box toggle keymappable
Thank you for your suggestion. I am running on a PC, so iKey is out (and I've seen your site and workflow out and about, very nice work!). I really dislike the idea of running input managers, although I know they can be quite convenient. I may eventually break down and check it out. It does seem to ...

Re: Arrangement: Chase Long Notes
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, freezing is an even bigger problem for me in Live. When you're working with Kontakt, especially on these giant projects, you want to have a few Kontakt instances each holding a lot of instruments, and a bunch of MIDI-only tracks routed to control them. In...

Arrangement: Chase Long Notes
Ideal Behavior: When playing a MIDI clip, either through the Clip Editor's preview/scrub bar or by hitting play/space in the Arrangement View, notes which overlap the insert marker should be played as if they start on the insert marker. This should function exactly like the "Chase Long Notes&qu...

Mixer/Track: Open VST editor
Ideal behavior: Clicking on a "Open VST Editor" icon on a track in the mixer (in Session or Arrangement view) should open the editor for the first assigned VST, or the first assigned VST of the track to which the clicked track is routing MIDI. Here is a visual example: http://adrianswall.c...

Clip Editor: Envelope Box toggle keymappable
Ideal Behavior: The Envelope Box toggle ("E" button) in the bottom left of the Clip Editor (on the Clip panel) should be able to be mapped to a hotkey. Here is a visual example: http://adrianswall.com/temp/live_9_questions_automation_keymap.jpg Since CC data cannot be edited in the same vi...

Arranger: Clip Editor shows global timeline
Ideal Behavior: In additional to showing the local timeline at the top, the Clip Editor would also show or be configurable to show the global timeline. Without viewing multiple clips at once, this would make it much easier to keep the position straight in complex arrangements, such as orchestral/sco...

Clip editor: Inherit Arrangement insert marker position
Ideal behavior: Clicking on a clip in the Arrangement View timeline should set the Clip Editor's insert marker position to match the Arrangment insert marker position in the clip's local timeline. Here is a visual example: http://adrianswall.com/temp/live_9_questions_clip_pp.jpg Without viewing mult...

Agreed. This is is pretty standard (Reaper/Cubase/StudioOne/Logic/etc), and is an extremely valuable feature.

Re: Who is actually happy with the direction Ableton is going?
I'm relatively new to Live, but I've been using a sequencer or DAW since first getting Cakewalk 4.0 for DOS in 1990. In terms of Ableton's direction, they single-handedly set a new standard. Live isn't a Cubase clone, and for what it is, it's the only show in town. Given that they charted a new cour...

Re: Advanced: Losing vibrato when copying/duplicating midi notes
Depending on the synth/library in question, it's possible that the vibrato is controlled by CC1/CC2 or some other controller which is not being copied in your selection. For example, a number of Kontakt sample library developers put vibrato depth on CC2. If you assign that to a fader, then play a pa...

Allright, that seemed to be the case, but again I am new to Live and wanted to make sure. Somewhat disappointing but not a big deal.
