Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator
Additional steps = remarkably easy. Widen the grids, and edit the int boxes to support higher numbers. How many do you want? Additional rows per grid... that's a little more complex, but ultimately doable. But Catanya only has 3, and the request in this thread only asked for 4. How many are you afte...

Re: Push developer kit: M4L devices for Push!
Is there an update for the Polygomé for Push you made (it seems it doesn't work with 9.0.4 release...) Thanks a lot for all this work! j Just updated my hack of Flocked's version for compatibility with the 9.0.4 release. http://sadfactory.com/assets/downloads/max4live/polygome64_push_v2.zip You can...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator
What is already done (but not posted): I've added the option of letting aftertouch override velocity. This works great on Push. Per-key pressure is a bit harder. First, the data has to arrive in a manner that Live doesn't mangle. (it's got to be all on one channel, using CCs instead of poly aftertou...

Re: catanya-like pattern based polyphonic arpeggiator
Here ya go. http://www.maxforlive.com/library/device/1659/steparp Cool and thanks! Seeing as it sorts the notes by playing order rather than pitch, how does it sort notes playing exactly the same time coming off a midi clip grid? Arbitrarily, of course. As Thomasch points out, MIDI's a serial proto...

Re: Push Scale mapping on a monome
I think the way Push maps notes on a grid to a particular scale is awesome. The way it removes notes that are not in the scale and highlights the root note seems really powerful to me. Is there a Max for Live patch that allows you to have the same note mapping on a monome controller? It would have ...

I haven't installed the 9.0.4 beta -- your problems may be common there for all I know.

Re: Why I will not make music with something like "push"
Bach wrote some pretty amazing music without any of our modern tools.
...but I'm sure his contemporaries were all "I'm not writing for no well tempered clavier. Pick a scale and play it in tune!"
It's all relative.

Now, now. I'm sure he's a nice guy.
We're all a little resistant to change in our own way. We all get defensive about the investments we've made and the investments asked of us.
Let's just try not to let the things we have to tell ourselves impede growth and learning.

Strange. That is the version I'm running. I wonder what's different in your setup than mine?

Also fixable through max for live, if you've got it.

Re: Hello! Decided to build an RPG - help is appreciated!
Okay, fine. That was clearing the grid and drawing the character in at whatever coordinates, which is slower than it should be, and the approach you described was actually better than my approach. It seemed clever at the time. Replace the "reset grid" subpatch with this: <pre><code> ------...

Hey, Tom. Here's some simple character navigation based on your description. Re: Crazy scaler idea
The danger with max for live is that you can waste a lot of time reinventing tools that Live already gave you. Open your MIDI Devices folder. There's a pair of them we need to bring to your attention. First, "Random". Set its parameters to establish the range of notes that it will choose b...
