Re: The Bass Conundrum

The sound after 30 seconds is the 808 kick drum with a long release to my ears. Its then compressed. Look on youtube there are loads of tutorials on how to compress kicks like this (just type in the genre) :) I've tried similar stuff with Big Kick kick synth, you can extend the release and hold to ...

The Bass Conundrum

I need some help on how to create a certain type of bass sound, as in example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmYZV8vZAHk - after about 30 seconds, that full bodied, almost toneless weight under the kick. I've tried everything I can think of....side chaining off another track with the same kick with...

OK to throw out old v8 manual & box?

I'm curious to know if I could throw by old install box + manual (v8) and whether it has any value since I'm now up to date with 9.2. Any help appreciated

COMPATABILITY: Ableton projects between machines (+Hardware)

I’m trying to plan for compatibility issues with Ableton between my Windows 7 PC and a laptop running Windows 8.1. The sort of things I’m trying to understand are these: 1. Are there any issues with loading projects up, e.g. will my samples need to be wrapped up into a single folder and 2. Will I ne...

Re: Is it possible to load ALL clips into RAM as default?

On older sampler instruments you worked with a lot less RAM and didn't seem to have much issue loading a complete song worth of samples and then some. Example: Roland MV-8000/8800 has a max of 512mb of RAM, all samples are loaded into RAM at all times yet you could load a project with many songs (1...

Re: Is it possible to load ALL clips into RAM as default?

Be aware that you may run into memory issues depending on your situation and setup. 10 x 6 minute songs decoded to 24bit will total around one gb of memory. Many devices/ vsts require a sizable memory overhead to function correctly, not to mention the OS requirement. So if you are converting your D...

Tarekith wrote:You can just select one clip, the press CTRL+A (CMD+A) to automatically select the rest. Now you can hit that RAM button and you only need to do it once. There's way to set this as a default action for new clips though.
Brilliant, thanks :D

Is it possible to load ALL clips into RAM as default?

Could anybody advise if you can do this, rather than choosing it for every clip, individually?

Many thanks

Re: Database Error...

I've had this twice now too. Takes about 1-2hrs to restore my samples, presets, etc in all the folders! :x :x

I'm assuming you have Ableton chosen? Also, if you go to midi mapping mode in Live, make sure the encoders aren't mapped to anything.
Useful, I'll have a go

Re: Is there a way to extend your # of MIDI assignable controls?

https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/working-with-instruments-and-effects/#using-plug-ins I'd read that section. 17.2 etc. Especially the part about 'Configure'. This is a way for Live to take control of parameters using Live's interface instead of Through the plug in. Once Live has those parameters c...

Re: Is there a way to extend your # of MIDI assignable controls?

Well, a heartbreaking truth is that he Remote is also one of the few controllers that can't be 'locked to a device'. So it'd sort of mirror a lot of Push's activity. However, there are a lot of other options, like the row of knobs that don't even get used. First, to verify, you're using the Ableton...

Re: Is there a way to extend your # of MIDI assignable controls?

The Remote SL MKii can do a lot of stuff! Have you tried using it where you turn off Automap? By default the Remote has the ability to do standard blue hand control, but as a bonus the rotary encoders can display all the parameters of whichever device you are currently using. In the case of a vst, ...

Re: Is there a way to extend your # of MIDI assignable controls?

Thanks. I follow....sort of. I need to do some research as you say but really I'm not a techie guy, I just want a basic way to speed up my workflow using Push and another controller for other things that I find are too deep into doing with Push (e.g. using my own VST's as stated. But when you say, &...

Re: Is there a way to extend your # of MIDI assignable controls?

Thanks for your help. I understand most of what you say, especially the part about keeping track of all the assignments. I currently have a Novation SL MK2 with Automap, but I hate it. I find it too deep and would rather just have a controller that I can use to automate my VST’s easily alongside Pus...
