Definitely think the General forum needs to be renamed to avoid confusion though.
Exactly what I was going to write.

Re: Will you buy an iPad?

I'm actually starting to change my mind, the more I think about it the more I can see how this could replace my laptop. Really going to depend on the apps that come out for it though... I still have no idea whether it will be a success, but it's an easy win for anyone looking for a cheap touchscree...

Re: Apple iPad. Meh.

TouchOSC runs on it unmodified, and presumably the TouchOSC guy can do more to take advantage of the bigger screen.

I expect in a year this thing will be pretty common as a controller.

Re: logic 9 pro or cubase 5?

I don't have anything interesting to say to the actual question, as I've only used Logic, and have never touched Cubase. But you should go to a Cubase forum and ask if you should use Live or Logic. And then go to a Logic forum and ask about Cubase and Live. And then go to Gearslutz and post a pictur...

Re: Live 8 verses live 7 warping seems very different

I had to adjust to the new way, but got just as fast as I was at the old way pretty quickly. Also, in my limited experience, it's easier to teach new people what to do with the new method than the old... Even though the only real difference to me conceptually is that in one method, you're moving the...

I don't recall seeing a warning, but luckily, I'm not collaborating with anyone running an old version at the moment!

Image

Only, um. Bigger. And centered (which since it's a square image on a 16:9 display, means some TASTEFUL black bars along the sides of my screen).

Re: Latest Live 8 version: Live 8.1 is online!

Good point. I would also like ot add that the announcement reads "The main focus of that 8.1 version is the release for the "Max for Live" product." and no change log is in sight. Strange for a very precise company like Ableton. They also missed 8.0.9 change log or post it in th...

Re: Latest Live 8 version: Live 8.1 is online!

OMG when I read this here I get the feeling that Live 8.1 is very unstable and full of bugs... So, a few things: 1) There is no Live 9, so I'm not sure what you're talking about there. 2) Ableton's developers are only human and all software has bugs. There will never, ever, ever, ever be a 100% sta...

Re: Latest Live 8 version: Live 8.1 is online!

Will definitely be emailing the set to them once I wake up. Thanks for the assistance! Cheers. EDIT: Compounding the weirdness... I deleted Supatrigga from my DJ template, saved the trigga-less template and opened that in 8.1 It opened fine. I then re-added Supatrigga, remapped MIDI, keys, etc. And....

Re: Latest Live 8 version: Live 8.1 is online!

Am using Live 8.1 + supatrigger (whatever the latest version was) on OS X 10.6.2 fine here. All my old 8.0.9 sets seem to open and play ok in 8.1... Yeah. I have to think that it's something about how it's setup in the sets, since keeping Live from loading the plugin in prevents the crash... But I ...

Re: Latest Live 8 version: Live 8.1 is online!

Yet more investigation... Looks like it's something about Supatrigga, which I'd upgrade, but it looks like development on it stalled some time ago (boooooo). My empty DJ template and sets based on it all crash live. If I remove the supatrigga component file, the sets open (with expected complaints a...

Re: Latest Live 8 version: Live 8.1 is online!

Tried reinstalling a few times, both the suite and regular downloads. Tried deleting cache, stuff from preferences for 8.1, etc. Still crashes on my more complicated sets, but is fine on some other ones.. I wonder if it's the long sample name thing some others have mentioned? I'm not sure, and don't...

The source for all of this is just some random forum post. Even that inthemix.com.au or whatever news post is just citing the random forum post.

So... Why do we believe this at all?
