I was going to buy a Paia modular synth kit from the states, as there are no resellers in the UK, but they said it would be marked as 'electronics hobby kit' for import purposes, I sent an email back asking if they could mark it as 'repair to be returned', but they wouldn't, so I'm still without the ...

Roland D50 owners...

I have a request for a sample of the 'Soundtrack' patch.

I need it for a project, I'm remixing one of my own tunes that was done using that D50 preset. But I don't own one now. I've looked all over the net at hundreds of sample sites, but that classic sound doesn't seem to be available anywhere ...

The only real advantage I can see on the S3000 is the 'rubber band' type time stretching on beats, which can't be done easily with software.

I really don't get all the BT bashing. You don't have to like his music but that doesn't mean he sucks. Let's put up one of your tracks against his and see where the production level is at. It's probably just another case of people not liking an artist when they have a large mainstream fan base and ...

I remember being offered one for £20 in 1988 when I was working in a music shop. Analogue stuff wasn't worth anything then, you could pick up a SH101, or TB303 for between £25 - £50, so I resent paying ludicrous amounts for analogue gear now.

A few years back I sold a Moog Rogue for £200, and a ...

Why sample it? Just re-create it. It's only a 909. Heaps of TR909 samples are available for free if you look around the internet.

With all due respect to all who've posted thus far I find the notion of the best synth for X or Y genre to be a little silly.
From a programmers perspective any synth the user has a good knowledge would do the trick and then some and whilst there are great suggestions here many of them can be used ...

Monitors are important, but equally as important is the design of the room. For example a square or cubed room is going to be a nightmare to get a mix right in, regardless of monitors.

Check out http://forum.studiotips.com/ for much more on this.

If your macbook is dual core, just go straight for the v6 update, v5 only makes use of 1 core, so you will instantly double the power available by getting v6.

You are truly delusional... and I am crying for you.

You are a very strange being indeed! If not just a mere whipper-snapper who knows nothing better than to diss people's music from several eras ago.

By the way... "brainstormer"... if you want to check out what real electro sounds like check ...

One thing to bear in mind is the fact that the Roland is smothered in processing (reverb/delay/saturation etc.) take all the additional effects off, then compare them.

you couldn't write a whole tune with ANY of the listed synths

i would have said you were wrong say a year ago.

since then ive produced an EP and some other releases using just one softsynth + live..

seriously a synth is all about the programmer and your musical idea.

Technically possible ...

you are a complete tool.

So you resort to futile name calling. How long did you say you were in the industry? 12 years, I never knew of anyone that started their recording career at the age of 2!

Why are you so defensive anyway? Anyone would have thought you programmed the audio engine which ...
