Re: Can M4L be made to do what Silent Way does? (CV outputs)

Maybe I'm missing something in your comment about Silnet Way, but can't you save the calibration files and just reload them for each synth? Like I said I'm probably just not reading your post properly. sorry for taking a month to get back on this one i think silent way is a great software / hardwar...

Re: Has Ableton said anything about changing Live 9's Browser?

The design takes up additional system resources and time. really?! where do you get this info from? this thread This is kinda what I've been wondering everytime I read something about L9's "horrible file system". Is it really as bad as all that? Or is it simply different than what was ser...

Re: Has Ableton said anything about changing Live 9's Browser?

I really don't understand why you guys are complaining. Live 9 browser is really organized, everything has its own folder. I really like it this way. There is reason that you don't understand. It's not about organization. The design takes up additional system resources and time. My other DAWs have a...

Re: Has Ableton said anything about changing Live 9's Browser?

of course you can use your OS's file system explorer, thats always worked and you can do it even without having to kill the indexer, but you lose out on any tempo sync preview with what your doing Ah! "tempo sync preview" .... so I take it you can drag a sample into a tempo sync preview w...

Re: Has Ableton said anything about changing Live 9's Browser?

Just remove the "abletonindex" executable. Just go to task manager or activity monitor, find the path to the executable and delete the damn thing. Then just use finder or explorer to find files. Who the hell wants to use Ableton's browser anyway? You guys don't name your samples? You don'...

Re: Trying to find that perfect distortion

.... Next on my distortion plugin wishlist is Ohm Omnicide distortion. Gets really good reviews, heard samples of it sounding amazing. only downside I have seen is small interface. works well with Ableton too. It costs $130USD from Ohm but Audiodeluxe with summer sale it is like $110 ish..... *Ohmi...

Re: USB2 vs Firewire for Audio Interface (PC) ?????

http://www.tcelectronic.com/impact-twin/ http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ImpactTwin Much better! I'll look into that one deeper a little later this evening. 1/2 the price of the Babyface as well. I'll have to see how well it deals with 64 bit environment and dealing with Live 9 Suite and so ...

Re: USB2 vs Firewire for Audio Interface (PC) ?????

the price. too expensive for my taste. i don't mind spending that kind of money on a unit, but it won't fit in the palm of my hand when i do. i want something i can leave some instruments plugged into that doesn't feel like a fragile toy for that kind of money. i realize it's not a toy and it's a g...

Re: USB2 vs Firewire for Audio Interface (PC) ?????

OK, so if the little war of wits over Mac vs Win7 is overwith, may we see if there is any way to figure out which connection protocol has worked out to be any better than the others for my particular situation? Mac is not on the menu at all, I'm building a PC, so .. yea. At this point since it seem...

Re: Can M4L be made to do what Silent Way does? (CV outputs)

machinate beat me to it - but yeah the stretta plugs are pretty good. i think there is still room for someone to do more with plugs like this (cv / modular / etc) ive grown to hate the silent way stuff, but still come back to it every now and then.. anyone with lots of smartguyismus want to take a ...

Re: USB2 vs Firewire for Audio Interface (PC) ?????

Very interesting conversation. But in my case theree are some options mentioned here that are not on the table. I'm using a desktop PC. So that removes some of the issues that were discussed. Anything that applies to a MAC is not applicable. So, within the context of my situation, which way should ...

Re: USB2 vs Firewire for Audio Interface (PC) ?????

See, I want to be able to have as many outputs available as possible for using Silent Way. I think that requires a certain soundcard that will output CV. You better check their list. I know nothing about it cos i dont have any modular stuff. My own experience is basically that I used to own an echo...

Re: USB2 vs Firewire for Audio Interface (PC) ?????

im gonna sound like an advert here, but stop worrying and get whatever RME card you can afford. Starting with the USB2 RME babyface. Ok, that is just barely within my budget. I had slated $700 as the TOP END for the audio interface, I see the RME is $750 at most outlets. Price aside .... Ok, so the...
