Re: iZotope Iris 2 vs. Granulator

If you want a good granular alternative to granulator, try Density. There is a M4L version which I use. I personally prefer it to granulator, it gets much more use and just fits with my expectations of what granular synthesis can achieve. That said it also approaches things quite differently so the ...

Re: hardware synth recommendation

Just had my A4 a few days now but I'm really into it so far. Once I get the proper cables I will also sequence my Dark Energy from the CV Outs... Never have used CV so it will be a new experience! One thing I realized pretty quick is that to get a good flow going on the A4 I will need to get to kno...

Re: Reality check, does you push sometimes not work at first?

Are you still using your stock USB cable. I changed mine for a longer one and had lots of problems like this, plus stuck notes and other strange things. Went back to stock cable and have had no problems since.

Re: hardware synth recommendation

Elektron stuff is all about the sequencer, I like to use the along Live but not sequenced from. If you only want to sequence from Live I would get first a mono, maybe a slim phatty, a minitaur, maybe even some modular to get more experimental. But you should try Elektron stuff aling Live, it is a l...

hardware synth recommendation

I’m after a new analogue based toy, I would really like the option of being able to automate within Ableton, but tinker and tweak an actual piece of hardware. I have Ableton 9 and Push. 2 synths have caught my eye/ear: Moog sub phatty Sounds great, one knob per function - looks inspiring to use, has...

Re: Good drumsynth(s) to use with push?

+1 on the M4L drum synths, very good. I have got some excellent results using instances of operator in drum racks. If you group each operator instance within a drum rack (nested group??? I don’t know the term for this) you get an additional set of macros that change as you select different drum pads...

Re: Any Autechre fans?

Wow, that was not what I was expecting, in a good way. I liked it.

Interesting to see that you have the same hardware in your studio as mine, and I'm not talking about the music stuff! I'm overrun with baby crap too :D

Re: Livecontrol 2

so lemur is on sale for 25$. Now that touchable 2 is out anyone have any comparison? Just got an ipad mini and trying to choose between the 2 If you're only going to use the ipad with ableton, touchable 2 is much better than lemur livecontrol 2. Way better. IMHO. I'm not a fan of the lemur template...

upgrade from Ableton's standard synths?

I have Live 9 suite and so far am quite happy with everything it offers, I don’t have any 3rd party plug ins and mainly use Analog and Operator for synth duties – I’m reasonably happy with the results I get. It’s a minor thing, but one thing I dislike is the cramped nature of the interface of these ...

Re: M4L Granulator 2 Crashes

I had this exact problem, it drove me nuts, you're getting parser errors too, right? Here's the fix (Ableton support helped me out here): This error is caused by dropping licensed protected samples onto a Max for Live device (Granulator II, Convolution Reverb). License protected files would be, for ...
