so you're telling me he outputs midi from 'em into ableton's clip?
but what if you have no way of midi out-ing. i guess that's when he
touches the laptop.

Re: How to record my hardware in perfect loops
this seems to be it. a clip that's already running and the session record mode is activated.
and i guess he has multiple tracks already record activated but the reason why they don't
all record the same notes at the same time is because of separate midi channels...
but wait...they can't be midi ...

Re: How to record my hardware in perfect loops
Hmmm...maybe I'm wrong.
At 02:30 he goes towards the JX-3P without preparing the computer beforehand and he plays a phrase which
stays recorded and looped without him doing anything after either.
Also at 07:05 he prepares the laptop before he plays the bass phrase - which afterwards stays looped ...

How to record my hardware in perfect loops
So I've been using Ableton for 10 years now but also been inside the box for most of this time.
I'm now really starting to get a hardware setup together for laptopless live jamming with friends
and there's a question that's really bugging me.

Re: Mono Sequencer question
To me it feels counterintuitive to delete the steps below and then work on velocity for the remaining steps.
I'd rather do everything in one action not two. From my experience with Kontakt and Reaktor this velocity
style sequencer really gives great and fast results.
Also that step bar is a bit ...

what MFL Sequencer are you talking about?Stromkraft wrote:OK. I just used the MFL Step Sequencer, which works exactly like how you describe it with Reaktor Monark and Live Collision as well. Mono Seq though.neeve82 wrote:seems the answer was right under my nose.

making your own velocity sequencer in m4l

Re: Mono Sequencer question
interestingly enough the only way to do this is to set the volume of the device to minimum.
it works this way, but i can't get very high volumes using max velocity in mono sequencer.
one other thing i've done to test live's strange behavious. i've loaded a bassdrum sample

Re: Mono Sequencer question
exactly. if you'll look at the screen show you'll see that i set the instrument (the 808 kick) to have the velocity equal the volume.
afaik when this is set zero velocity means mute volume.

Re: The Yamaha sound for Operator? Or at least patch guidelines.
I've just discovered OpFour by Katsuhiro Chiba and am amazed.
It's got that sound! It's got Lately Bass and other TX patches. I dare say it sounds more
authentic than Operator or FM8 when trying to emulate the TX81Z.

Mono Sequencer question
Hi,
I'm new to M4L and I'm loving it's potential but I have a few things that make me scratch my head.
First of all the Mono Sequencer that comes with Ableton's M4L Essentials.
Why doesn't the Volume drop to mute when bringing the step velocity all the way down.
I don't want to deactivate the ...

Re: The Yamaha sound for Operator? Or at least patch guidelines.
Hate to bring the competition into play but to tell you the truth Propellerhead's PX7 is
the only DX emulator out there (except the more recent Dexed) that declares it's legacy
to the DX7 family. The PX7 factory patches even include the whole DX7 IID factory bank
recreated and it really sounds ...

The Yamaha sound for Operator? Or at least patch guidelines.
I've scoured the internet for Operator banks that have Yamaha / DX11 / TX81Z sounds to no avail.
I would love to have access to some patch specifications from these synths so that I can recreate
them in Operator.
I also know that by replicating the specs 1:1 you might not get that sound but again ...
