Re: 64-bit

I still use the 32 bit client. I have a lot of 32bit plug-ins and the hassle of finding 64 bit versions and installing them (if they exist) is a real pain. There are other DAWs that allow 32 bit VSTs to run in their 64 bit applications (cough: Bitwig), however Ableton has put its foot down and essen...

Re: Serious Studio on Ableton - SERIOUS or JOKE ?

Before investing in a "professional" studio, try spending a few years WORKING in the industry. That means getting a job with someone who has already built a professional studio and working with real clients. I've been doing that since 1994. I've met a lot of characters who've just graduate...

Re: Ableton Live 10

I'd like to be able to deactivate individual clips from the scene launcher. Right click the clip and deactivate it through the menu. This would allow me to set up some clips like drum pads or effects changes somewhere convenient without nesting them somewhere using the disable-stop button. I'd also ...

Re: Synthesizer Cookbook - Operator Translation

There are a lot of free VSTs out there. Find a simple, free VST, that's a model of a basic subtractive analog synth: one or two basic oscillators (sine, saw, triangle, noise, etc.) and one or two filters. The filters and the oscillators should be able to receive modulation from an envelope or LFO. S...

Re: Organizing plugins in Ableton Live 9

When organizing my VSTs, I tried to follow Avid's ProTools logical breakdown. You may have another system, but this is what I like: I first divide my VSTs to 32-bit and 64 bit sub-folders. I can quickly make sure I don't get into any trouble when working with legacy 32's, 64's, or 32's that have bee...

Synthtopia.com best DAW poll.

Currently FL Studio is leading the pack, but just slightly above Ableton as of today. What's your feelings?

Re: Update LIVE 9 for RETINA !!!

I hope this includes high-resolution Windows support as well. I'm running at 3440x1440 (or whatever the native LG 34UM95 resolution is). The increase in Ableton real-estate is awesome, but not everything scales well or even at all at high resolutions.

New Rack that allows for automapping

Ableton should create a new version of the instrument rack and the effects rack for wrapping VSTs and Ableton plug-ins that automap to a designated control surface. The rack should allow for 64 Macro Controllers that can be mapped the same way that ordinary racks are. The rack will also save what pr...

New feature: clip ignore scene launch

This may have been mentioned before, but I think this feature needs to be added promptly. When I launch a scene I want to be able toggle a setting where a clip will ignore this command. This opens up a world of possibilities. I will give three examples. 1. I can have as many backing tracks as I like...

Re: Please add a tagging system to the browser

Being able to read and edit metadata would be a big help. KI1RK doesn't give me much of a description. Is it a kick? Is it a kick? Is it something else entirely? Many libraries include metadata. This helps immensely when searching. ALSO, when exporting a mix, it would be nice if Ableton would save a...

Import MIDI mapping when importing a track.

Yes, this has probably been asked a bizallion times, but I'm asking again. Being able to somehow import MIDI controller mappings is a long sought after feature in Ableton. I realize that there's a lot of logistical problems in doing this. But could you create an option when importing a track to also...

Re: Behringer ditches Guitar Center and why you should too.

I'm not so concerned about Behringer. I've only bought one piece of gear from them and it was for a cheap live set up (rackmount parametric EQ). What's MORE important is that this is the relationship GC is presumed to have with all of its vendors. Ableton is one of them along with a lot of other nam...

Re: high-cut everything at 8-13khz...?

Before you start cutting the high-frequencies in your mix you should check a few things. 1. Get your ears checked by a professional. This is the weakest link in the audio chain and the most overlooked. Many people have hearing damage from loud concerts, loud monitoring, or just loud recreational lis...

Re: Behringer ditches Guitar Center and why you should too.

This is alot harder to do now unless you just order over the internet. Mars went out of business and most mom and pop music stores have an extremely limited collection now. Some of them had big selections back in the day but now had to limit their selection or go out of business. Guitar Center has ...

Behringer ditches Guitar Center and why you should too.

I've spend quite a few dollars at Guitar Center here in the USA. I actually bought my copy of Ableton Live 9 there among other products. Guitar Center is currently claiming that it has preemptively severed its relationship with Behringer. But the truth is quite different. Here are both sides of the ...
