^^ Yeah definitely. High pass filtering everything else is the easiest way to make the kick stand out, and so sound bigger. Main peak in a kick is around 100Hz, so if you high pass at 200, that gives your kick a full octave of space. Making the bassline work around that is harder, especially if it's...

The Sanchez bassline sounds like two square waves with a very steep low pass filter on them, cut off freq just above the fundamental frequencies (100-120Hz?). The squares are tuned to the same pitch, but with one slightly detuned so that they interfere with each other a bit, and possibly the detunin...
