Re: using external fx pedals through a mixer instead of connecting directly with the audio interface
Looking over your post, there is still a lot of information missing that would be needed to give you a solution that is guaranteed to work, but I’m up for challenges like this, so I’m going to take a shot at it. Keep in mind, I’m making numerous assumptions about your existing connections, configura...

Re: Keys. Starter pack
Everyone has different learning styles--I had to try several before I found one that worked for me. After several attempts, I finally learned to play using the "Learn the Piano" series. These books contain scan-able links that take you to demonstration videos by the instructor so you can s...

Re: Stereo Pan Mode Question
It's fantastic that they finally addressed this in Live 10, makes a world of difference. Yeah, I was pretty happy when they added that. I do a lot of piano work, so panning the piano to be make room for other instruments on the other side of the virtual stage meant cutting the sound on one end of t...

Re: Focusrite USB ASIO & Realtek output question
Short answer: unfortunately, no.
This is a limitation of Windows. Windows only allows one audio device at a time, so both inputs and outputs must be to/from the same device.

Re: Include Return and Master effects unavailable when Rendering Master
To further clarify, the option applies to exporting individual tracks. When exporting the whole mix, it is on by default, contrary to it showing off, if that makes sense. ;) Actually, if you look closely at the button, it is not just displayed as "Off", it is also grayed out to indicate i...

Re: Behringer RCA playback outputs
Those "Playback Outputs" jacks on your interface are designed to connect to powered monitor speakers (see page 27 of your quick start guide). That means speakers with built-in power amplifiers, typical of a studio setup. Most home audio speakers do not have amplifiers, so if you're pluggin...

Re: Is there a way to do multiple takes and splice them together?
The technique you're referring to is generally called "comping". While there are workarounds to achieve this in Live, this feature is not included, although plenty of people have asked for it. My speculation is that since the focus of Live is on live performance (hence the name), recording...

Re: .ASD File Question
The .wav file is usable completely on its own. It has no use for (or any knowledge of) the .asd file. Feel free to delete the .asd file and distribute the .wav without it. The .asd file contains ableton's settings and analysis data for the audio file it is associated with. Whenever you use an audio...

Re: .ASD File Question
You might want to check page 73 of Live's user manual to help you decide what you want to do with those .asd files. When exporting audio as .wav files from a project, Live gives you the option to *not* create them, so pick that option if the files bother you. But if you remove those files from insid...

Re: How to add multiple VST locations
I guess you already spent your money on Mixed in Keys... but from what I can tell, Scaler 2 serves a very similar function, and according to Plugin Boutique, it is supported in Reaper, both Windows and Mac. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/3-Studio-Tools/93-Music-Theory-Tools/6439-Scaler-2/?a_...

Re: How to add multiple VST locations
Nope, Ableton Live is funny that way. You need to consolidate all your vst plugins to one location--just the .dll files really. Any actual application called by that .dll can stay wherever it was installed, but the .dll's have to be in one directory structure. Subdirectories are allowed, for vst's. ...

Re: Abelton Live 10 New User: adg files
I'm not a Push user, so I couldn't say with any authority, but I think what you're describing is typical of any MIDI controller, especially those with pads. The drum kit will assign the individual drum sounds to each pad on the controller and you can "drum" on them to create/record your be...

Re: Abelton Live 10 New User: adg files
Hey Max, Those files are drum kits, not loop samples. It won't copy to an audio track because it is an instrument and belongs on a MIDI track. The loop you're hearing is for previewing the drum kit so that you can decide if you want to use that kit to make your own beats. But yeah, some of those pre...

Re: ASIO4ALL driver issue? Help please!
I have a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. Would that help? That will definitely help! Like Mark Williams said, make sure you have the correct Focusrite ASIO drivers for your 2i2, including the correct generation. I've owned a few Scarletts over the years and they are really solid interfaces. On those ...
