Re: flats instead of sharps
Another bonus feature is that instead of quantizer for when you play out of time, an Ableton employ comes to throw a chair at your head and calls you a weeping-willow-s**tsack. But anyway, is Ableton so convinced that no musically educated person would dare to work on music on a computer that they d...

MIDI guitar to USB and Live 9 Intro
I have recently gotten a Casio MG-500 electric guitar with MIDI device capabilities. Naturally, I now wanna use it with Live, as I have previously just been using a Yamaha keyboard for MIDI, and I'm not really a pianist but a guitarist. http://www.guitarsushi.com/item/musical_instruments/guitar/ele...

Vibrato
The way I've been doing vibrato is with a pitch shift vst plugin and drawing in the wave in the track automation for the pitch parameter. I'm pretty sure this is very stupid and inefficient. I was looking for something like an LFO controlled pitch shifter that I can use for any instrument or even au...

Re: Help! Why can't I use the full demo?
The version of Ableton Live that comes with other products is usually a Lite version which has limited capabilities.
Other version have obviously more stuff available.
To see what is available and unavailable in your version click here https://www.ableton.com/en/live/feature-comparison/

Equilibre EQ permanently shuts off track when automated
I like using the free Vst plugin Equilibre for basic EQ mixing, but when I configure parameters of the plugin and later change them in the arrangement window, (often it's something like gradually turning up the bass) it completely shuts off the audio for the whole track. The editor window shows inco...

Re: How to activate and use UVI Ultramini without iLok
Figured out how to do this btw. After you've created a free account with iLok and downloaded their License manager and signed into it, you also need to create an account with UVI (too much fuckin signing-up) and then go to Product Registration and enter your given key. After that it should appear in...

Re: How to activate and use UVI Ultramini without iLok
You have to create an account at ilock.com and sign in to your account within the iLock License Manager. Then you can register a new product and choose to activate your computer. Open the ilock License manager and in the upper left corner it will say 'Sign In'. There's a Help menu in iLock License ...

How to activate and use UVI Ultramini without iLok
I got a disk of UVI's Ultramini synth that came with another thing I ordered, but apparently to use it it says I not unly have to download UVI's workstation (which can be used as a plugin for Live) but also have to activate the synth through iLok. I never dealt with iLok before and don't have their ...

Re: 32-64 plugin converter recomendation?
the only one I know of is jBridge which is about $20 and it converts all your VSTs to 32/64 bit. I didn't feel like going through all that so I'm just using 32 bit Live on my 64 bit pc once I found out that's an option, because there's almost no quality plugins for 64 bit version. I used 64 bit and ...

Re: Electronic Music is "Cheating"???
Music's only restriction is that it's an expression of creativity through sound Sadly that is a bullshit statement. If I get on stage and amplify my farts with a megaphone it might be creativity through sound, but it sure aint music. I have a very open mind and listen to a lot of weird stuff but so...

Re: Audio loop with note overlapping bar line.
I suggest starting and ending the loop where there are no notes being played or decaying so that no clipping occurs, probably like begin the loop region on 23.3 and end on 25.3 and then moving the actual start marker to 24.4.3 or where ever your riff starts. Start marker is that triangle that you ha...

Re: Electronic Music is "Cheating"???
The real answer is who cares? I've known a lot of Metal heads that like electronic music, the purists are boring people usually. I am a huge fan of metal music myself, from the early stuff all the way through now. When I say "Metalhead" I don't mean metal fan, I mean someone who is narrow...

Re: Electronic Music is "Cheating"???
I play four different instruments and I have found that this does not help you much in the argument. Their issue isn't with my ability necessarily but with the actual act of making music non-physically. One thing that sometimes works in this argument is saying that I use DAWs as a composing tool, si...

Electronic Music is "Cheating"???
I get this a lot from some of my friends: "Well it's not really music, you just sit there behind a laptop and the thing plays it for you. It's basically cheating and gay." The people who I hear this from usually have a very narrow taste of music (eg. metalheads and other genre fanbodys), t...
