Re: better time stretch algorithm

Dude... Cubase 6 uses Elastique algorithms. That's what Ableton uses, we just call it the Complex algorithms.

Re: Mastering....

yeah... DON'T! No matter what any plugin seller says, you and your DAW are NOT equipped to handle Mastering! Izotope and the Waves plugs are really good for trying it out. But when I want to release something, I'd get it done by a good Mastering Engineer. They have equipment, ears, and setups that o...

Re: Good Bass VST for MAC?

ABLETON INSTRUMENTS! If you can't do it with the Abe instruments, you'll probably be disappointed when you try and program on another VST. Unless of course you're strolling through presets. Are you asking, "What synth has the best bass presets?" but yeah if you TOTALLY can't do it within A...

Re: Mic signal strength too low

FW solo does have a preamp. Too bad it sucks. Yup just buy a good dedicated Mic Pre or better yet a Channel Strip and throw it in line level to your FW Solo. Sure the converters on M-Audio suck balls but at least you'll have a good signal in the preamp stage! But then again if your mic sucks then wh...

Re: [Poll] Mixing plugins (EQ, Reverb, Compressor, Spectrum)

If you can't make a good mix with Abe's built in plugs, then you probably can't make a good mix with Waves! People spend too much money on plugins. They should just get good with what is given to them, which is a lot already when it comes to Ableton or Logic. Then they can take the money they save a...

Yeah static is an ambiguous term, but if it only happens when both play it's most likely a phase problem. Either invert one of the channels or nudge one until they are in phase with each other.

DJ style EQ? that plug is based on a Neve 1073 module. It's from a large format mixing console.

but yeah it does sound awesome.

maybe DJs should put hardware 1073s into their signal paths!

why don't you just create a new audio track, route the output of the MIDI track into the new audio track and record it?

It may have to do with your plugins not being able to access the ridiculous amount of RAM you have. I had this problem with NIs stuff. Being that they are 32 bit applications (as well as DAWs like Live and Pro Tools), some VSTs can't access more than 3GB of RAM at a time. So once you keep piling on ...

Once you have an appropriate sample, the sky's the limit. Some processing I use when I feel like it: SPL Transient Designer 1176 or LA-2 style compression (can do this with Abe's Compressor in Live 7) Run it through analog gear Run it through shit that wants to be analog gear (plugs for Neve 1073, P...

Suite 7 to Suite 8 Pricing

Is the upgrade free from Live 7 Suite to Live 8 Suite the same $259 as the regular Live 7 to Live 8 Suite pricing? Am I misunderstanding something? that doesn't seem fair to current Suite users at all. And I'm only saying this in the most humble way.

SO EXCITED FOR LIVE 8!

In order to sound like T Pain, you have to grow out dreads and wear really goofy hats! That's where his sound comes from. But joking aside, the thing with auto tune is that you STILL have to sing the right note for it to work. Make sure you've assigned the right key for your song as well. T-Pain can...

Reason doesn't look that real at all anyway. UIs should be simple and easy to work with. Ableton isn't perfect, but it's one of cleanest, simplest GUIs in the game.

You should be more specific. What does your mix sound like. If you're getting distortion, make sure you're not clipping at the mix bus. If you are over 0 dB there, you will get digital distortion when rendering. If you're looking for settings. Choose your dither based on what kind of music you're do...

You should use post-fader sends so it reflects anything you've done to the faders so you would be listening to the same mix on both sets of monitors and not just the levels you recorded to Live.
