Re: Ms surface pro 4 and Ableton?

I've been using Live 9 on a Surface Pro 2 with an RME Babyface, and it works very very well. If you want touch control, look into SmithsonMartin's Emulator Pro software - lets you make custom control interfaces and then midi map them to any Ableton parameters. The crucial part for Surface is enablin...

Re: Switching soft synths LIVE

One way is to make an instrument rack, and then create chains in the rack for each synths/virtual instrument. Open the chain selector and distribute the ranges for the chains equally. Map the chain selector to Macro 1 (it will rename it "chain selector"). Then map the On/Off button for each synths/v...

Re: It's 2015... any luck with Live on touchscreens?

Think of Emulator Pro as a totally customizable control surface - it can get data back from live to change the colors of its clip launch buttons depending on the play state of the clip, but otherwise it's like a controller that you design. If you want to interact with Ableton itself, you can cut hol...

Re: It's 2015... any luck with Live on touchscreens?

Does the Smithson Martin Emulator come with templates for Live? Or do you have to build your own? Yep they have an ableton template, but the whole point is that it's a tool to create your own custom layout. Most of the functionality of the program is related to creating different types of sliders, ...

Surface Pro / Smithson Martin Emulator / Live 9 user here - works brilliantly. I have a six page layout which controls everything from faders and clip launch to VST instruments and my midi enabled guitar pedals. Its pretty incredible.

Re: Ableton on tablet

Very happy user of Surface Pro 2 + Live + RME Babyface here. Wicked low latency and seriously portable. Can run multiple very hungry VSTs (like u-he diva) simultaneously.

Re: Just bought waves plugin. how to see it as VST in Ableton 9

I just bought the waves CLA compressors, and they didn't show up in Live until I set my custom VST folder to a different folder, re-scanned for vsts, then set it back to the correct folder and scanned again. After that, they showed up.

Re: Surface Pro 2 vs. MacBook Air 11" i7

I'm pretty new to Live, but I've been having a great time using it on my Surface Pro 2 (8GB ram / 256GB SSD). Live runs extremely well on the SP2 - though I haven't tried tons of VSTs yet, it's handled all the effects I've thrown its way with ease. Very low latency through my RME babyface; latency w...
