Re: RME or MOTU

i partly agree, motu makes good cards... but yes there is motu, presonus, echo and the lot and then there is RME and then... benchmark, metric halo, lynx, etc. (i totally agree about the built, we had motus next to other cards in my old company a 828, V4HD and a 8pre to be precise next to RME FF 80...

Re: Best Audio Interface 4 Wimdows 7 64 bit?

Thanks chis. The AudioFire4 is looking very tempting.I like the RME products but they are a little out of my price range @ the moment. You're welcome. :) A friend of mine upgraded to an Echo AudioFire4 from an M-Audio Audiophile PCI card. He was truly staggered by the difference. There's better sou...

Anything RME or Echo. Multiface 2 was my choice.

Re: any Namm news on korg out there?

No Electribe ESX update? :( All Korg need to do is this: - Make the effects and envelopes a little more configurable. - Have two assignable LFOs per part. - As many samples as the RAM will fit, no abritrary 255 sample limit. - SDHC card slot. - 12-16 parts that can be ANYTHING: single mono OR stereo...

Re: NAMM so far... Nothing!

No products touting multi-sampling with synth architecture and flash memory. Come on manufacturers, this is already long, LONG overdue. No the Korg Microsampler isn't enough! If only that Mopho keyboard could address samples...

Vote for Alchemy here, fantastic synth. Great way to quickly mangle my MWXT samples.

Re: Please help, Live wont allow me into a project of mine!

Top tip: Do NOT save over the same ALS file all the time. When you're working on a project, do a save as and add a number on the end. 2, then go up to 3, 4 etc. Not every time you, of course, I mean start saving to a "new" ALS file every 10-20 minutes. It means you have a slightly older ve...

Re: What was your best purchase of 2009

I would second the Microwave XT and Alchemy posts, I own and love both. Although I would choose the hardware over the software, sorry Camel.

Alchemy I bought this year, but I can't call it my best purchase. It comes a very close second to my RME Multiface 2. Worth every penny. :)

Re: Charlie May from Spooky bags the Ableton Sound Engine

Much as I enjoy Gargantuan, and the myriad remixes Charlie May has put out over the years... Open sucked. Well, mostly. It was a very patchy, derivative and dull downbeat/house record that sounds like it was produced entirely for chillout lounge "clubs". None of the edge that was present e...

Re: low latency windows 7 64bit usb soundcard recommendations

Terratec made pretty solid PCI cards, but I had one of their firewire products and it worked sporadically.

Don't go USB, would be my recommendation, consider an Expresscard-based solution. Echo Indigo IOx, or if you need more connectivity, something by RME.

Re: Windows 7

A slight aside: Use a 40GB SSD like the Kingston SSDNow and bring your boot times down to about 30secs to desktop. Mac Pro? Whussat? :D Seriously Win7 is the very best Windows MS have put out. I was happy to pre-order it after a few months of mostly excellent performance under the release candidate....

Re: Villalobos hating on Ableton

Now that made me chuckle, I'll admit. (ah, and listening some 20 sec's into some villalobos stuff won't bring you ANY idea about this guy's music) : Each to their own, m:o, but part of the problem is, where Villalobos needs 20-30 minute tracks to say something, others will need only 3-5 minutes. If ...

Re: F**K, next time I wait with upgrading...

$4mU3l, I'm not sure if I'm referring to his music or his "bashing" of Live... he complained about people misusing Live, not Live itself, to be fair... I still utterly loathe his boring music though. To come back on topic, I'm tempted to upgrade to suite at this price, but for now I'm nabb...
