Re: Live 8 is a little too much for me

Lately, I've been trying to bring loops from hardware into Live. I've used the arrange view almost exclusively, whereas I used to try and compose with session view THEN move to arrange. I'd still want to stick with Ableton, even if Reaper keeps tempting me, because even the arrange view layout is so...

Re: Where does Ableton just not cut it?

Rendering down?

I hear that rendering down directly from Live produces inferior results to exporting a "multitrack" to Reaper / Logic etc, and rendering a final mix within those instead.

Re: Casimir's Blake - Dub Techno and Ambient electronics

Thanks for the replies chaps. I've actually updated both songs, spent a little more time tweaking. When RL gives me a chance, I shall up a few more. Glad you liked the songs. :)

Casimir's Blake - Dub Techno and Ambient electronics

Hello Abletonites, Casimir's Blake is my ambient and experimental side-project, and it's also my outlet for testing the - seemingly rather murky of late, 'cept for the new Yagya IMHO, but anyway... - waters of dub techno. I've posted a few tracks at the following Myspace page: http://www.myspace.com...

Re: Bladerunner soundtrack

You guys.... if you say BR is your favourite soundtrack, and like Vangelis, and haven't even tried any of the Aphrodite's Child albums (especially 666, although their other two albums are GREAT as well, just different), you haven't experienced Vangelis at his peak. His solo stuff is often fun, but i...

Some thoughts from a skeptic, for what it's worth. The Virus has always impressed me with its cutting, detailed, punchy sound. But I'm not convinced it's worth the pricetag. There are other options out there, first and second hand, that seem just as capable. The Virus seems like a "Porsche"...

Been using Event TR5s for a few years now. Always been very pleased with how they've sounded, but now they're out of warranty, one has developed repeated clicking, the other has a higher noise floor. i.e. the amps are slowly dying. They' cost £125 each to repair, and are therefore not worth botherin...

I would agree to the petition if they were talking about levels around 90-100dB. As is, they're being unnecessarily restrictive.

I still want to slap artists I see when they have their PAs way too fucking loud, though...

I use an EA-1 to sequence a Waldorf Pulse and a Fat Freebass, alongside my ESX. Don't underestimate those little boxes. :)

Hey, if you're in the UK, I might be interested in buying one off ya?

I'm still hoping they'll announce a new set of Electribes, or something.

Instead we got a pink Kaossilator. 8O

it's amazing what prefuse and the like have accomplished with just the mpc which is about as no frills sample editing as you can get (well not anymore) but when prefuse was using it as his complete setup. Ah, that might explain why everything after Vocal Studies is soulless, messy and over-polished.

Seconding Tarekith's posts on the ESX1. I just bought one (very late to the party), it's keeping me _away_ from Ableton, simply because it's so immediate and fun. Sampling is limited to truncating start and/or end, normalising and reversing. It has the facility to stretch loops a-la live though, wit...

Hmmm, thats just it for me. Maybe its all too much. Too complicated. Too steep. How to ease into it all? More of a turn off than an turn on, confusing. What about LE stuff? :? Bah... more sitting on the fence. I have the same feeling. I just bought an Electribe ESX1... yeah I'm "late to the pa...
