DJ/Live PA set by me
I'm Ali, I used to be around this forum pretty often, and then this school year came... figured I'd kick off my summer back to the Ableton forum with this: http://soundcloud.com/the_woof/bassment-set Done in Live with a 6-channel set that I use for DJing other people's tracks and live PAing my own. ...

Another great release. I've listened to it several times and it's always a cool journey. Very fluid too.

Re: The "so-called quotes" quotes thread
This "thread" is a little bit absurd.
I also find it "humorous" that this is the only "thing" that has really motivated me to "post" here in a long time.

Re: Post your setups!
i'm up for adding some meaning to the theme, even if my setup is unimpressive... computer: dell XPS m1530, 2.4ghz core 2, 4gb ram. solid machine; i like it. DAW: live 7, which i love to death. i want to add fl studio soon to do more sound-mangling. plugins: psp nitro - pretty good, but i don't use i...

Re: Big Gigantic - Wide Awake
I'm not sure I'd call it best album of the year, or second best after PL's new one. That said, I really like BG's music. I hated on Wide Awake for a while because it sounds like he's been using the same drum sounds in his productions since 2006 and they're getting a little stale. But yesterday I sta...

Re: Pretty Lights-Passing by Behind Your Eyes
The MPD pads trigger samples, usually the lead part of the song. It's really clear here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Mg3jqgenNk, although I think the video starts to not be synced with the audio after the beginning. For a while I thought the drummer was mixed so low you could barely hear him, bu...

Live PA! Maybe explain one of yours as a case study or something? Really anything about improvising with electronics/computers live would be excellent.

Re: Warping : How to preserve the feel/groove/flow
If I'm doing something where I'm actually using a full bar or more of a sample (drums), I lock beat 1 (kick), and usually only snares on beats 2 and 4. (that's if we're talking 4/4) If you're warping anything that grooves, hip-hop especially, I would avoid putting warp markers anywhere but the 1, a...

Re: OT: Your favourite sandwich
I'm personally a fan of the buffalo chicken cheesesteak with lettuce and onions. It's a cheesesteak, but made with buffalo chicken instead of steak and covered in a very cheesy kind of bleu cheese dressing. There's an amazing hoagie place in NJ that makes fantastic ones.

Re: Custom instant mappings
Thanks djsynchro--I didn't realize I should have been looking for the Application Data folder, which is hidden by default on Vista (which I'm running now). So I found it and now it's all working. @mazmith: it definitely would be FTW except now I'm not sure if I can use it since some of the sliders d...

Custom instant mappings
Hey, I'm trying to create a custom instant mapping for the 8 knobs on my Roland VS-880. I read the Instant Mappings How-To file, made a new folder in the MIDI Remote Scripts folder (the instructions refer to a User Remote Scripts directory but I couldn't find anything like that) and called my new fo...

Re: Your handle - why?
The first time I needed a handle was probably 8 years ago (I was 10) playing Unreal Tournament with a friend. I made mine "doom_lord_xxx" and my friend immediately pointed out how absolutely lame that was. I changed it to the first thing that came into my head, which is the handle I have n...

Re: Everyone who wants educationprice on upgrade sign up here.
+1 for this. I bought Live 7 because there was an educational price. I'm in high school, for christ's sakes. I'd gladly send my school ID like I did with Cycling '74 to get the 9-month max/msp/jitter license, if I need to prove I'm still a student. The reasoning behind this decision doesn't make sen...
