Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

So I spoke with the guys at Newegg and here is what they recommended for an audio production PC I could put together for around $850 US. Let me know what you think: Intel Core i7-4790K Devil’s Canyon Quad-Core 4.0GHz LGA 1150 BX80646I74790K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600 Rosewill Valens-50...

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

The other option is to buy a used Mac Pro tower. I live in Los Angeles and there are a ton of them listed on Craigslist for sale that are reasonably priced. The problem is I don't know enough about the Mac Pro towers spec-wise.

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

Hey guys, I should have listened to you to begin with. I am going to return the tower and build one myself. That way I will get exactly what I want. It will take some additional work to put together but I think it's worth it. At least I will have piece of mind. You said Newegg is the best place to p...

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

I am going to get an SSD drive to replace the 5400 HDD I already have pre-installed on my PC tower right now. I knew the 5400 rpm HDD would not be ideal when I purchased the tower to begin with, but, I didn't think it would be this bad! :x Unless, of course, it is something else that is causing the ...

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

Just a quick update...I am having major problems with loading samples in Omnisphere 2. Also, DIVA is out of control CPU-wise (I know DIVA is a CPU hog, but, I wasn't having this problem on my old Mac which had an SSD drive). I assume both of these problems are a result of the 5400 rpm HDD I have pre...

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

I actually figured it out myself. I had to create a vst folder, put the vst plugins in this folder, and then browse for this specific folder in Live's Preferences. All is good now! :D

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

Many thanks!!! The ASIO4ALL did the trick. If I could ask you guys just one more question I should be good to go with Live. After downloading, unzipping, and installing all of my third party vst plugins, how do you tell Ableton where to find the third party vst plugins? On a Mac, they 'magically' sh...

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

I ended up getting the following Acer Tower for $499 US. Any suggestions on what to upgrade first? I am primarily interested in speed. Also, when I had the Mac, I was using the internal soundcard...no third party interface. When I run Ableton Live on my new PC, it doesn't seem to offer any options u...

Re: Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

think I am going to buy a brand name tower. Maybe in the future I will build one. What does it mean if the processor just says Pentium...no i3, i5, or i7 mentioned? Here is one I was looking at: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-pavilion-slimline-desktop-intel-pentium-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-gray/844...

Suggestions for PC Desktop for running Live???

Hello, I have to sell my MacBook Pro, unfortunately. I am planning on purchasing a PC Desktop to replace the Mac and run Live. I already have a monitor, so just need the tower. If someone, or anyone, could help me out with any suggestions that would be great. My price range is 500 US dollars or less...

How to assign MIDI parameter to mod wheel?

Hello, I am trying to assign the gate within Live's arpeggiator to the modulation or pitch bend wheel on my MIDI controller. I think I am following the correct steps: 1. engage MIDI button in upper right hand corner of Live window...all MIDI parameters turn purple as a result. 2. click on the gate b...
