Wireless/bluetooth shuttle + transport controller?

I'm looking for a jog wheel / shuttle and transport (i.e. record, play/stop, next/prev locator) controller. It could be similar to the Contour Shuttle Xpress. But I need it to be wireless/bluetooth, so I can easily move it around the studio. It seems like such an obvious piece of kit but I haven't b...

Re: How to compensate "reduced latency when monitoring" audio

Thanks! I have specified no manual latency compensation. I'm not sure what to do. I'll email support.

Re: Is it possible to see the total (maximum) latency in a set?

Thanks! Is there a way to find this number without manually hunting through all tracks and devices?

How to compensate "reduced latency when monitoring" audio

I am running Live 10.0.6 on a 2018 Mac Mini, with a MOTU Ultralite mk3 @ 44.1kHz and a 128 sample buffer. I use external instruments, and Virus TI. The Virus plugin introduces about 80ms latency. Naturally, I use Live's in-build Delay Compensation. I also record audio (e.g. guitar) and do all my mon...

Is it possible to see the total (maximum) latency in a set?

Live's automatic delay compensation allegedly corrects timing based on the reported latency of external instruments, audio effects with lookahead, track delays, etc. It's possible to see individual devices' latency by hovering over their title bar. Is there a way to see the overall, total, maximum l...

Rare Access Virus TI2 Desktop Whiteout Limited Edition

This is a near-mint condition, limited edition (#17 of only 100) Virus TI2 desktops that were produced in their polar white color. Selling only because I wanted a TI2 with a keyboard. I've never taken it out of my smoke-free bedroom studio, always kept it covered. Comes with its AC adapter; unfortun...

FS: Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII like new

I'm selling an Elektron Machinedrum SPS-1UW+ MKII. This is the fully loaded drum machine Elektron no longer sells. Great sound and sampling, but I'm saving up for a different piece of kit and need to say goodbye to this beautiful device. If you're looking at this you probably know that it's the mach...

Re: Exporting/rendering all tracks with send effects printed

Yes, as mholloway points out sends/returns and inserts are different. I often want to use the same effects on multiple tracks. S/R are perfect for this, and for preserving the dry signal. If I have 30 tracks and want to change a single parameter in a reverb, for instance, it is not really a good sol...

Re: Ableton Operator vs Access Virus TI2

It's all about the knobs. If you like hard-wired-ish buttons and knobs to quickly tweak your sounds, a Virus is the way to go. Zebra and Alchemy sound fantastic but unless you do lots of funky midi-mapping to your controller you'll be using your mouse a lot. I think this is analogous to a digital SL...

In Live, you may encounter confusing latency--if you have a lot plugin delay. These threads will help:

IMO Ableton only has one glaring weakness which deals with its implementation of PDC. It's automation might be its second biggest weakness. Everything else tends to have at least reasonable workarounds.

Tips for making first EP/album

I want to make an album or EP, to bound and pressure myself a little bit (I find it helpful to have a goal), and to push myself and my music to a higher standard. This is new to me, and I don't really have more than one peer to reach out to. So I'm looking for thoughts and advice on making one's fir...

Re: zebra ?

Thanks all for your pointers on the tail-vibrato. I had never looked at the manual for the MSEG to understand the loop in/out UI. (That part of the plugin needs a little workflow attention. :D) And thought that I might be able to trigger an actual LFO on release. But that is a great trick and works ...
