Re: CLAP Plugin support

One feature of CLAP that would be a game changer is indeed the cross platform compatibility. On KVR, Urs (from U-He) said they are working on a migration feature that would allow us to migrate from any format (vst for exemple) to the clap format when the vst plugin is not installed on the machine. I...

Some 3rd party Max4Live devices wont work.

If you value them keep Live 11 installed.
Any concrete exemple ?
I can't install Live 12 now (too much stuff to do before, and above all 3 concerts to come), but I actually rely on some M4L devices.

The minimum requirement is Big Sur.
By the way, is there a way to force install Live 12 on a Catalina machine ?
I guess no, but who knows...

Re: Ableton Live 12 - macOS Catalina

Strangely, Sonoma fixed quite a lot of issues I had with Monterey on my M1 pro. Especially some issues with a MOTU Ultralite mk5 randomly glitching. It seems they fixed some usb management issues with new laptops (so it does concern me), and it seems Sonoma is quite a stable release in general, but ...

Re: Any VST to improve in Ableton ?

Only good advices here : Valhalla reverb (VintageVerb IMHO) is a nice complement, another limiter and/or clipper is a must, what TDR Nova does is also not covered in the built-in Live plugins (Nova is amazing and when on sale is pretty cheap : anything that Tokyo Dawn Labs is doing is actually amazi...

Re: Sample rate for live performance

It's in this video https://youtu.be/-jCwIsT0X8M You couldn't find it because it's a Fabfilter video (made by Dan Worrall but published in the Fabfilter's channel). Of course, it's a fabfilter's video, so it could be biased (in favor of "the amazing and near perfect Fabfilter oversampling algo&q...

Re: Sample rate for live performance

Use whatever works. On stage, I would recommend the lightest option and (personally) would never go on stage with Live running at 96kHz : if you want stability (and stability is the most important thing on stage) you need a lot of processing headroom and 96kHz will not give you that... I used often ...

Re: Sample Rate Basics

Strange. You may have done something weird because it doesn’t work like that. If you change the session’s sample rate again to 44khz, is the sr displayed in the clip changing again ? I guess it doesn’t. I think you rendered to 48khz without noticing (even while running the session at 44). I don’t se...

Re: Sample Rate Basics

It's not the sample rate of the track, it's the sample rate of the audio clips that makes sense (there's no such thing as the sample rate of a track, if by track you mean the differents tracks of the Live session) You can check the sample rate of the clip in the little colored area that is displayed...

Re: Latency fixes for live vocal bus?

I think the singer will not like your solution. The singers hear their voices in their head while singing, so even 1ms of latency is weird. If it’s reverb or delay it’s perfectly fine, but if it has some clear vocals in it it will be very strange for the singer to have a delayed version of her voice...

Re: Edit Device Title Bar for plugins?

Creating a group is not an elegant solution, because it actually has an impact on CPU use (and it doesn't look great because it adds informations we don't need).
It could be nice to be able to rename a plugin device in the set...

Re: Sample Rate Basics

Hi There's a real time sample rate conversion done by Live when you play audio files recorded in a different sample rate than the actual session (like, in your exemple, 44kHz files in a 48kHz session). My experience is that it impacts a little CPU footprint and of course the real time audio quality ...

Re: Cinema Surround Sound - Ableton Live, Master Audio Output

I'm not sure I understand you. Correct me if I'm wrong : - your audio source is actually stereo - when you want to play your music in a cinema, connecting your Live set to their surround system, instead of playing your source on all the speakers like when using HDMI out, it plays only on 2 channels ...

Re: Cinema Surround Sound - Ableton Live, Master Audio Output

I’m not sure I can help but it’s an interesting problem. I didn’t know HDMI audio out could work natively in surround or multichannel. What format is your source ? how many audio channels ? You need to know that Ableton works only in stereo, so if you want to output multi-channel you’ll have to brea...
