There is a guide here: https://www.ableton.com/en/help/article/reinstalling-max-for-live/ - but it didn't work for me.

This is how I solved it:

Close Ableton.
Run Max 7 standalone application (contrary to what the guide above suggests).
Attempt to login to a Cycling 74 account through Max, as if ...
