I have a MIDI keyboard permanently hooked up to a new iMac that I use for everyday purposes (email, word processing, etc.). I want to be able to reach over and play the keyboard at anytime without having to start up a program. (For example, to figure out a song that comes on the radio)

Ok, It seems Ableton has heard us at last and we are getting MicroK /K49 support in Live 6. Not realy shure how this will work out, but at least they're on the list of supported devices :) Let's hope it's full native support.

Would full Native support mean the parameter names appear on the Korg ...

Yeah thats a great idea. Right now I name my midi tracks in capital letters and audio tracks in lower case, but it still takes a moment to see what's where when I open a project...

In Live4 u can put 100bpm as the scene name and it will change....

the live tempo control idea is a good one. thats one area that hasn't been explored much in computer-based music, AFAIK - either recorded or live.

You didn't mention: how do you handle differences in tempo, song-to-song? Do you change it with the mouse? Can this be automated like fades, with a clip envelope?

Just to wrap it up:
I finally worked out how to do this (apply the entire tracks automation to two alternating clips)

-I set the unlinked clip length for each clip to the song length (128 bars)
-Copy-pasted the Autofilter automation from the arrangement view to the clip view (as suggested by ...

The only problem with the method you described (in this case) is that there are 2 loops, alternating. Also the envelope is the length of the song, continuously varying, not repeating. I would be nice if there was a way to have the arrange page's automation continue to apply when triggering clips ...
