A friend of mine gifted me a Logitech G13 script controller, and it completely changed the way I interact with any program moving forward.
Paired with AutoHotKey for windows, and a few python scripts, I have gotten my Ableton songwriting (in arrangement view) down to 25 or so keys. (aside from ...

Re: Live performance and setup
I would reccomend:
1) ALWAYS press everything down to audio. Your CPU will be over exerted trying to play back a lot of drum and bass sounds via midi. A computer is much better at handling large clips (via RAM) vs synthesizing thing on the fly (CPU). Check out videos of Mr. Bill and KJ Sawka on ...

If you want to automate ANYTHING on a windows machine, look in to auto hot key. https://autohotkey.com/
I believe Applescript is the mac equivalent, but have never used it myself.
Also, I would totally recommend picking up some type of scripting keyboard.

Re: Since most people call Live "Ableton" ...
I think it should always be referred to as "Ableton" for technical documentation purposes. The word "live" has a lot of other potential uses, and I have seen them come up many times reading help pages.

Re: auto update to 9.6 broke my setup - F*****CK - #URGENT
All is right in the universe again.
I was able to roll back to 9.5 and re-copy scripts. Project was not saved in version 9.6 and opened fine in 9.5, all systems nominal.
FYI, Ableton support confirmed that nearly all versions are NOT backwards compatible (aka a set made/saved with 9.6, will not ...

Re: auto update to 9.6 broke my setup - F*****CK - #URGENT
I presume you are using a Mac. Because for the Mac version of Live, I was always wondering why custom MIDI Remote Scripts can't be placed in a custom location, for example, "/Users/selffi/Library/Application Support/Ableton/MIDI Remote Scripts" folder? So that new installations don't overwrite them ...

Re: auto update to 9.6 broke my setup - F*****CK - #URGENT
Possible Solutions:
BEST OPTION - Update - if the scripts are 3rd party, such as Isotonik, Touchable, etc. Then these suppliers have now updated their scripts and you should get the new versions. They will work.
Second slowest - Rollback - Ableton Support (or a knowledgable user) can provide a ...

auto update to 9.6 broke my setup - F*****CK - #URGENT
HEY ALL
Not sure how long auto-update has been an Ableton feature, but it royally screwed me. Broke 2 custom midi remote scripts I had installed.
I have a gig in 2 days, not a fun space to occupy.
Rollback would hopefully fix it, BUT 9.5 is not available in the download archive.
Please remedy ...
