intra track choking with compressor or glue compressor?
Running a couple of tracks of korg wavedrums to build a performance multi-snare "kit" and the only thing I can't do with wavedrums (well ONE of the only things) is a good snare press. So I'm sticking a variety of snare press samples in a drumrack and triggering those with a boppad. But I'd...

Understanding "trigger record.. on launch" concept
I could be missing something but have to wonder why "trigger recording on launch" is a right click option in every scene and "start recording on scene launch" is a Preference when changing either (or the choice in any different scene) changes them all at the same time. It would b...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge
Time signatures in scenes that follow a nonstandard time signature scene, will shift to that nonstandard time (rather than back to the original global time signature) IF the signature in the following scene is NOT expressly overwritten. IE. overwrite any 4/4 scenes that follow a 5/4 scene from "...

scene time signature changes doesn't change when it should
I have an 8/8 scene and a 7/8 scene (designated as such in the scene names.) I stuck a metronome-like clip in each (with different downbeat sounds for purposes of diagnosis.) Regardless of how I set the follow actions and various quantization settings (but mostly one measure), I get extra beats (usu...

USB induced blue screen
This is a windows 10 problem but I thought I'd just ask here in case anyone has experience with it (as my next option would be to send a dump to microsoft for which I would not expect much response.) Any controller that I replug or repower after a PC powerup and subsequent use by an app (Ableton, st...

Re: How to play swung stuff into empty midi clip
Thanks, all. Solved. I was focused on the Quantization options on the top of the screen but should have turned the RECORD Quantization setting (in the edit pulldown) to "none."

Re: How to play swung stuff into empty midi clip
I have not solved this using the previously posted response. Looking for more input. I want to play into empty midi clips for subsequent looping in a performance setting. I want to maintain the swing of the material. The purpose it to have the whole performance produced on the spot. It's why I embar...

Re: How to play swung stuff into empty midi clip
…just record without quantisation… Have you done this? Looped with a midi instrument into an un-quantized clip and maintained a swing? I must have some setting wrong because it still "straightens out" the material. (I also wouldn't mind having a 2 bar quantization in place because I'm not...

solved; How to play swung stuff into empty midi clip
I want to play a percussion part into an empty midi clip for subsequent immediate looping in a performance setting. I'd rather not use the looper effect to do this. Is there a way that leaves the material with its swung rhythm? I see this question has been asked before but have found new recent resp...

Re: Weird impact of midi monitor on rack layer selection
Thanks but I don't think so. I don't have a similar problem when I use velocity (rather than cc2) to drive the sample selection.

Weird impact of midi monitor on rack layer selection
(Live 11, Windows 10, 16G of ram, SSD, i7, ...KMI Boppad) I'm trying to use a boppad's capability to send radius messages (as CC2) to select between samples in an instrument rack (within a drum rack.) I map CC2 to the selector. Two samples are evenly distributed in the rack pad. So it should work th...

Re: Waves plugins not working with Live 11
Similar issue here. Actually they (Element2 and Smack Attack) DID work with 11 but then when I ran Waves crappy licensing check ("Central"), it updated itself and then it appears to have updated the plugins (though the actual version numbers didn't change.) So stuff worked in 11 until Wave...

Re: 2nd run of Live9 increases latency x4, requires reboot
I now think this is a problem with either the focusrite 2i4 drivers or something to do with windows releasing memory associated with the usb port. So we're done here. You could test with using your computer's built-in sound card to confirm or not the Focusrite theory. Hmm. Tried that. Good idea exc...
