Re: MIDI vs audio
I reread your original post and I totally misunderstood your question. Sorry about that. I just upgraded from an early 2007 macbook that was finally starting to have issues but it was still doing pretty good I kept the old one. Maybe I'll try a test with it. I'll load a set with and without my firew...

Re: MIDI vs audio
Your question shows a misunderstanding of the difference between MIDI and audio. So lets break it down. an Audio track in live plays back a prerecorded audio file (.wav for example) Live outputs sound. a MIDI track requires an instrument, whether an ableton instrument or VST or an external MIDI devi...

Re: using a hardware mixer to make song arrangements
I have done what you want to do but I scrapped that setup years ago. I replaced my mixer with an APC40 the I/O of my soundcard goes to external effects and synths / drum modules but control and mixing are all inside the box.

Re: checking for two inputs on soundcard for cueing in ableton
It is a little difficult to understand exactly what you want. First off: Inputs are for audio sources going into your computer (microphones, synthesizers, turntables etc) outputs allow for you to hear what is going on inside the computer. It appears that your laptop has two headphones outs. the ques...

I'm not in front of my studio computer and I don't remember how to do it off the top of my head. and I don't remember if you can do it in Live 8 or if it was a new feature for 9

Re: Effects - help
I guess it depends on how often the bell sample "hits". If it hits a second time before the effect tail from the first hit disappears, then yeah. it'll take more work, probably two tracks would be the best way to do this.

Re: What am i doing wrong?
I am not familiar with Guitar pods etc so This might not help. first off I'm not sure why it would sound good in your headphones but not in live but perhaps the sound card gives you the ability directly monitor. Also I'm not familiar with guitar rig 5 but from my reading, it sounds like you want to ...

Re: Effects - help
You didn't say so I'm going to assume that you have the latest version of Live. . . You can automate the device On/Off for just one clip. Turn off the effect in all other clips and turn it on just in the one clip. I'm not following what you are describing with the cutting clips out of one track and ...

Re: Remember the Bloody Audio Interface!
I agree. I would also like it if it could remember hardware setup-ups. I use the same laptop in the studio as I do live. (probably not a good practice but when my studio computer died I just replaced it with my laptop.) so when I am in my studio I have a specific set-up of I/O running thru my MOTU 8...

AUTO-SYNC???? thats just CHEATING I guess you only drive a stick shift because an automatic gearbox is cheating? You cut your bread by hand because buying it sliced is cheating. You have all your clothing hand made because machine made clothes are just cheating. :P I understand your point . . but i...

Re: Having External Midi Hardware Issues with Ableton
Perhaps you should write out (or post a picture or diagram of) your MIDI set-up. seems strange to me but while the videos were helpful in describing the results of the problem they didn't give enough info on setup.

Re: Midi out using a 2x2 audio interface
the title of your post is "MIDI out on a 2x2 audio interface" but your question has nothing to do with MIDI. The answer to your actual question is yes and no. I'm not familiar with the Lambda but this answer should apply to any 2 in 2 out audio interface. If you don't mind each signal bein...

looks like the answer is no: https://www.ableton.com/en/live/feature-comparison/
There might be more presets but I'd doubt it.
