Re: Loop '17
Finally some reporting on Loop. Strangely, it's not from Ableton. This is from Cycling '74. https://cycling74.com/articles/on-the-road-loop-2017

Loop '17
Ableton’s Loop ‘17 took place this weekend, but here it is Monday and I don’t see any reports on it online, not even on Ableton’s site. For something called “Loop,” it seems like a lot of us are left out of the loop on the state-of-the-art electronic music presentations, demonstrations and discussio...

Re: Online production courses
You might want to also check out the free Ableton courses at Coursera and Kadenze. Both are worthwhile and the price is right.

Is Max 7 crossgrade worth it?
Max 7 is on sale for a few days, ending on June 13th. The crossgrade from M4L is $224 instead of the usual $299. I'm wondering if any Max 7 owners can advise on whether the crossgrade is worth it. What can a musician do with Max 7 that can't already be done with M4L?

YouTube video to audio converter
One of the artists on the recently released Ableton quick tip videos has the excellent suggestion to grab audio off of YouTube videos and convert it into beats, etc. in Live. Has anyone else done this? If so, what program do you use to convert YouTube video files to audio?

Kaigen
Great interview with Jeff Kaiser, creator of the free “Kaigen” generative Max for Live device. Based on the video demo, it sounds amazing and a lot of fun.

Re: Anybody using Focusrite audio interfaces?
I recently got the Scarlett 2i2 and it works fine, quiet as a titmouse, no latency, quality sound.

Introduction to Ableton Live
For newbies like me, a free three-week Coursera course is starting on Jan. 23, but you can sign up and preview it now. The instructor knows what she's doing, judging from her intro video. Here's a link: https://www.coursera.org/learn/ableton-live

Re: This music was composed by a tree using MaxMSP
Pretty amazing to be able to convert a dying tree into music. A tribute to this fantastic software and the ingenuity of the programmer. It would be great if he made his code available for others.

Conversion of MIDI data to a standard musical score
Ableton is a tremendous tool for classical and jazz composers. But one of the things it lacks is the ability to convert a composition into a readable musical score that can be printed out and played by live musicians. I'd love to see this valuable feature added to Ableton 10.

Operatic vocal pack
The most beautiful instrument, in my opinion, is the trained voice as heard in opera and lieder. I'd love to have access to this with an operatic vocal pack. If something like that exists, either through Ableton or elsewhere, please let me know.

I Did Not Have Sexual Relations with that Woman
A week ago I bought a keytar, and to my surprise and delight it came with Ableton 9 Lite, a version not mentioned on the Ableton site. I think the "liteness" is mostly due to a limitation of 8 tracks. But just starting out, that's enough to learn on and make music with. Here's my first eff...
