Yeah unfortunately fully fledged daws are not as out of the box as something like Garage band simply because they have so much packed into them, it will take some time for you to figure everything out, but keep at it.

I would go with room because it is more of an all purpose reverb whereas VVV will not work a lot of the time. I can understand why your friend might like VVV so much, because it does sound great, however it has a fairly specific use.

I would just invest in the komplete 11 package, gives you about everything you need. By the way, if you have Serum already you really don't need any other wavetable synth. Then fabfilter always make great stuff and iZotope also does for the most part. I'm also a fan of the Valhalla reverbs like the ...

I mean I have often multiple crashes per day but its almost always plugin related. I would argue that Ableton is a very stable daw, I have thoroughly used Logic and Fl studio, both of which crashed far more frequently.
