Considering the renewed interest in the "funky breaks" tutorial thanks to this thread I've updated it for Live 5 (not a lot of differences but hopefully clears up what could be confusing for new users).

If by 'open' you mean 'edit' there's no shame in looking it up. Meanwhile if you have a Creative soundcard then Vienna is the industry standard. Many sythns/samplers like VSampler also does the trick.

I use four different MIDI input devices and route them all through these tools.

It doesn't matter that you get the no-drop cursor -- as long your view changes (and you manage to keep your finger down on the mouse) you can drop it inot the other view. (This is one of my favorite all time features in Live, it's very addictive)

I thought I would share a tutorial for doing breaks using live.

Hopefully it's useful to some.... feedback welcome.
