I hate sounding like a dunce. Control Panel, Sound, Manage Audio Devices shows me all my input devices. Under recording tab, I see all my input devices. Properties, Listen tab, Listen to this device checked for both mike jack and Scarlett. The speakers are enabled.

I have managed to get Ableton Live 9 to record stereo input from two devices. I can see the squiggles showing input. But when I play it back, silence.
