Re: Option to disable comping
I just discovered that, because my Projects got bigger and bigger and I had no idea, because I deleted all clips in the session view This was already the case before comping was introduced. Recorded audio files were always kept, even if you deleted the clips in the project. And as a failsafe for re...

Re: Export length is incorrect?
Snakey Engel – Why are you entering the Render Start and Render End values manually? Just set your loop to what you want to export, click the loop bracket to make it a selection, then export. The start and end times then correspond to the loop bracket. (To be exact, the start and end times are set ...

New single – anyone into melodic doom metal?

I use Ableton Live extensively to write and record songs and for pre-production. Guitars and synths for our upcoming album – including this advance single – were taken straight from those sessions.

Re: Volume change after bouncing
Do you have 'Normalize' checked when exporting? Maybe those tracks had some peaks going into the red and were normalized to 0dB?

Re: Sending a group / sub mix to outboard gear while retaining vsts
Whenever I try the external audio effect I tend to get feedback loop. In general: when using the External audio effect device, make sure that the tracks feeding into the hardware effect (your drum tracks, via the Drum group) are not actively monitoring the inputs where the effect comes back into Ab...

Re: Sending a group / sub mix to outboard gear while retaining vsts
That screenshot looks good, actually. It sounds like you may have tried this, but what should really work is putting your vst in your "Drums" group, followed by an "External audio effect" device pointing to outputs 3/4 and receiving on 1/2. Then set the output of the "Drums&...

Re: 8 channel mixer only giving me a single 1/2 input
Looked up the specs, Alesis says it has a "digital-direct stereo connection" over USB. That sounds to me like only the stereo mix of the physical inputs is available as an input source, not the separate inputs. You say you have (only) one output, so are you looking for a separate second ou...

Re: Sending a group / sub mix to outboard gear while retaining vsts
Is it not possible to have a group itself sent externally to hardware, when there are individual tracks within the group? Yes that is possible, and that is what I believe you should do. But I think you were sending all individual tracks directly to the external hardware, so they weren't going to th...

Re: Sending a group / sub mix to outboard gear while retaining vsts
I have each individual tracks, including the group being sent out to a hardware compressor Do you mean you've routed each of the individual tracks within the group, as well as the group itself, to "Ext. Out"? In that case, I think your solution will be to route the individual tracks to th...

I think the trail is always the Suite version. I guess it makes sense to showcase everything Live can do to potential new users.

Re: Edited or deleted audio still plays original audio
No prob, glad it helped!!
(I was stumped by the same thing when I first worked with Melodyne, and I remember it took me a while to find the solution—it's not very wel documented at all. Maybe this thread will help others as well.)

Re: Edited or deleted audio still plays original audio
Aha! Got it. Melodyne calls the places where it takes over the track "Replace Ranges". They're indicated by lighter grey regions in the timeline (if you have Options>Note Editor>Show Replace Ranges enabled). You can drag their edges to change where Melodyne takes over. You can also delete ...

Re: Edited or deleted audio still plays original audio
It's been a while since I've worked with Melodyne and I don't have it installed on my laptop so I can't look for it right now. But I do remember there was a way. I think you start by deleting the waveforms in the Melodyne editor where you want to hear the original audio again, and then you can someh...

Re: Edited or deleted audio still plays original audio
Are you using Melodyne on that track? Once you've loaded audio into Melodyne, it takes over that part of the track and plays the contents of its editor instead. So if you delete or change what was there in Ableton, you won't hear those changes until you've loaded them into Melodyne again. There's a ...

Re: Warping
You're looking at a MIDI track. Warping is done to audio tracks. By its very nature, MIDI will simply follow the project's tempo, no need for warping.
