What buffer size are you using? I'm using 2 M1 Macs without any issues (I know that doesn't help your issue)

No, the transient markers are not in the correct places. They are slightly behind where they should be on the kick. It turns out that that wasn't the problem though. The default slicing preset was loops the samples! I created a new slicing preset that creates only one-shots and it's much happier now...
