I've tried working on composing in Logic and it's been a mess for me by comparison. Some of the things I consider basic functionality I can't figure out at all in Logic and I can't find the function listed in the manual even when I try to look for it under like 2 or 3 different keywords I think I ...

It's a bit silly to slag off the entire shop when one purchase experience wasn't perfect - especially when they had no idea of knowing what was in a sealed box.

As is often the case with these places, some people that work there are better/more knowledgable/helpful than others, and it's always pot ...

I can confirm I get similar odd behaviour - just recorded a few bars in Live's arrangement with the default MM patch, moved the bars in Live and the octave selectors moved up to the highest position.

I don't know at this stage whether it's a Live issue or a MM issue - I'll have a look and report ...

The way I heard it, Live 8 will have ATC (Automatic Tarnce Compensation), meaning that as soon as Live detects you're trying to make tarnce, it will shut your computer down...

Hehe. Yeah, it annoys me a bit when people say "I use Ableton" or whatever.

The guy who said that the word "Live" is too generic a term is bang on - the connotations of the word are very strong (in the music arena especially) and the DAW connotation to that word is not nearly as strong.

To be honest, someone bashing away at a V-Kit with mesh pads isn't exactly going to go unnoticed... ;)

The Roland PD9 rubber trigger pads were by far the worst culprit - the V-Cymbals and hats are much better. The kick pad is the next loudest, and then the mesh pads. But especially if you like to ...

You get the Logic content on the DVD's that come with Logic when you buy it...

And yes, there are some wicked Ultrabeat kits in there...

You guys are running the latest Universal Binary one aren't you? You can download it from GForcesoftware.com if you are a registered user.

Not the version in the box (which will be a PPC build only).

Usually a printed manual and a CD, if my boxed impOSCar is anything to go by.

The printed manual you can also get as a PDF (you can download it from M-Audio.com if you want it - G-Media manuals are always full of interesting info about the instrument, nice to read).

I've used Western Digital drives for years. I bought a MyBook (FW 320Gig) last year and it's been great, and I just bought a second MyBook - a FW800 500gig one.

No problems, great drives. There will always be mechanical issues with a percentage of drives, that doesn't mean that they are all garbage.

You can't do that with Live as a ReWire slave, period. The platform and/or plugin format doesn't matter; any third party plugins won't open.


Do we know *why* this is the case?

I agree, it's a feature which does cripple Live a bit when run as a Rewire slave - fine if all you are using is raw ...

Dunno, I always hated mine.

I think it simply comes from being able to jam by turning the 8 tracks on/off with dedicated buttons*, that's it.



* Note: When the buttons actually *work*, which isn't often.
