My mac doesn't really have that much room in it and I was wondering if I can use vst's and samples in ableton if I store them in an external hardrive?

if you're using a laptop,
lower battery power=higher cpu

i have 16 gigs of ram and was playing a track that used like 15% cpu max, and when my laptop was on low battery (like 3%) my cpu shot up to 80%

Depends on what you're trying to accomplish and the setup.

If it's a full solo set, it could be any number of choices to even. Or using any synths.

If you're playing with a band, it depends on the type of band and the kinds of sounds and particularly what kind of control you want over the sound ...

I've been trying to figure out what kind of digital synths would be best for playing in a live setting, i.e. using my midi keyboard with the synth.
There's a few options i was thinking of getting:
serum, diva, and also i was curious about native instruments arturia.
any thoughts or advice? this ...
