If so:
Not to rain on the parade, but I wish I hadn't bought mine, though it's too late to take it back.

The keys on mine wore out after less than 40 hours of use (more like 20). Never took it mobile, and in a smoke free environment with no banging on the keys.

I now have 5 ...

The solution I've been enjoying: Bootcamp 1.4 + WinXP on my Mac Book Pro. Windows runs lightning fast since it is running natively on the CPU. Live still operates virtually identically to live running on MacOSX and there's no performance hit.

Of course not every Mac guy out there enjoys the ...

its not that simple

each OS has its own language so to speak of how applications ask the OS for things like memory and cpu etc..

its this OS layer which is the problem.

I know, in my simple mind though it just seems like it would be theoretically possible if maybe quite heavy on cpu to ...

Well I did the same search and after a few long hard days of thinking I've decided to go with the ultarlite... a) the price is great b) it has plenty of features c) if you ever plan on owning any hard synths you'll need the extra inputs and outputs.

If you really want the maximum horsepower, you want the fastest Intel quad core you can afford. I have no idea of Apple's pricing, but if you build your own PC, a quad core CPU is less than USD 100 more than a dual core (for a 2.8 or so GHz CPU).

What counts for speed is the CPU, not the OS ...
