3. This laptop is my only computor. I will often have open several programs at a time like MS Outlook, SKYPE, an Antivirus program with firewall all running while I working in Live. My CPU resources are being shared. Should I consider a dual boot set up? Would this maximize avaliable CPU resources ...

sony v700dj ... a little uncomfortable after a little while, but they have 50mm dirvers, and are clear, durable, powerful; also, you won't be able to match the frequency response: a remarkable 5 - 30k. nothing else even comes close in a similar price range. i've made the mistake of mixing with them,...

thanks for the reply, tarekith. i was gonna do something like that ... maybe get a little padding, and staple a vinyl/rubberish cover over to make it a little soft and grippy. figured i could put it on top of this stand (only $34) ... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/OnStage-Stands-Pro-Platfor...

hey, laird ... i noticed that alot more physical memory is being used when aero is engaged (as compared to windows vista basic). do you have any thoughts on why your performance is better when your computer is operating under a much heavier load? seems counter-intuitive, but there must be a good rea...

Live performance - table / stand

this is a total noob question, but it's better than watching you guys talk about food, girlfriends, poker .... or debating if people actually use linux (they don't, btw). so here it is: i use a laptop and a small m-audi oxygen8 in my live performance rig ... it's small enough to find a space for it ...

BIG fan of the random function here ...

that, and alternating the arpeggios (using random can do some of that for you). also, just stopping (i.e. inserting breaks) when you wouldn't expect it happen. just don't limit yourself: make an effort to try something that sounds completely stupid.

also, if your computer times out / hibernates / etc. Live is screwed. if you're gonna step away for awhile, you should either close and save Live, or disable any powersaver features. if you use a laptop, this is kind of comical, because you get horrible battery power usage, but such is Live. it isn'...

does anyone have any thoughts on the presonus v the tascam? the presonus obviously costs a bit more ($100) and is a firewire interface (i am on a pc laptop, so i think i have to go USB), but i'm more curious as to why people love it so much.

Here is what I did before I bought a keyboard (WARNING! Ghetto workaround ahead!): 1) Cut up some White tape into short strips. 2) Cut up some Black tape into short strips. 3) Stick the short White strips on keys a,s,d,f,g,h,j,k 4) Stick the short Black strips on keys w,e,t,y,u 5) Stick little vel ...

not sure what system you are running, but i've had a good experience with the tascam us-144L ... i know some people have had problems, and the construction (i.e. the dials, not the housing) isn't that great. however, it works every time i plug it in the same way, and it never gets 'tired'. what i wi...
