For those pissed (me included) with the lack of a proper, functioning Undo/Redo functionality in Ableton Live for the third party plugins, after reading some VST developer forums on the subject and lots of back and forth with Ableton's support, I'd like to share here a simple workaround. It is ...

In fact, I'm so pissed off with this that I will produce a list of plugins having this issue in Live (ofc, the ones I own).

I see only two solutions:

Don't use possibly poorly maintained plugins or stay with Reaper.

I can't rember that someone has reported that issue with iZotope, TDR or FabFilter plugins.


If everything works fine in Reaper and doesn't in Live, is that a problem with the plugins or with Live? In ...

I have no idea what is causing the issue or where it is comming from.
I have contacted support about this more than 2 months ago - no response :-(

Guys, test with another DAW (Reaper, for instance). If it works there and do not work in Live, it's most probably Live's problem.

some plugins seem to capture every minute movement as a single action, so dragging an EQ node from one place to another in one mouse movement may be treated as a large number of very tiny moves, each with its own undo. not sure if that's necessarily a DAW problem (it may be), or a plugin problem ...

pretty sure i'm not alone on this one, my Undo/ctrl + Z is STILL bugged. everytime I make a mistake and attempt to undo it, it just says something along the lines of "Volume Re-do Midwave" or something with 'midwave' in it.

Try the same plugin in another DAW (Reaper for instance) to check if the problem is with the plugin or Live itself
