Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge

Then both dummy device and useful devices are grouped with dummy racks, a macro takes units from the first mapped control in chain, which is dummy device: https://i.imgur.com/NJSjfq8.png Mapping ranges can be tuned inside inner dummy racks but not inside outer rack, to not lose macro units. Discove...

Re: Ableton 10.2, It's time.... for getting better

I'm itching for a new update too, but it is worth noting - Apple recently announced their plan to switch to ARM-based Macs in the future, and sent out developer testing kits just a few months ago. I'd be willing to bet that a lot of Ableton's resources right now are going towards making Live compati...

Require a key modifier to show 10.1 automation stretch/skew options

I find myself accidentally clicking the stretch tools when I want to move automation points. My suggestion is to require a modifier to only show these while a key is held, similar to fades. However, this would make it so you had to hold three keys if you want to use the control+shift modifiers, so i...

Re: Goodbye Ableton: no mpe I am out

TBF, MIDI 2.0 is going to allow many, if not all, of the functions of MPE and will be coming in the next few years. An update to the protocol already in use in Live seems more likely than the addition of an entirely new protocol. Not to say that this is something people should have to wait a few yea...

Discussion: Are the default CC values on EQ8 wrong?

I was playing around with EQ8 and found that, with the expanded view, the default CC values seem to be in the wrong place. Many MIDI controllers use a 2x4 grid of encoders, which seems to be perfect for the expanded EQ8 view - but the CC values used to control EQ8 seem to be in the wrong place. (Not...

Re: Post your most obscure Ableton Live knowledge

Mapping a note to the chain selector allows you to increment the chain by one every time you press that note :)

Re: 'Relative' Takeover Mode

When you're in MIDI map mode and you click on a parameter to map in Live, look at the status bar at the bottom of Live. You can select all sorts of things like relative, 2's compliment, inc dec, etc. Thanks Erik! I know about the little status bar, it's good for manual mappings. I think a relative ...

'Relative' Takeover Mode

Instead of relying on Value Scaling, why not just have a Takeover Mode that adjusts your encoder value relative to whatever the macro is set at? That why it's always accurate and you can avoid jumping values.
