High Sierra , Higher latency
Hi, Just sharing an experience. Upgrade from Yosemite to High Sierra. Using the same XR18 mixer, Latency increase from 7ms roundtrip to 8ms round trip at same settings (48khz,64 samples). It also create an unfixable issues with my bluetooth devices that have been working flawlessly for years. It cut...

Re: Input and output latency and its relation to my CPU etc
Glad you made some progress with spending alot of money! If you are considering spending some buying a better interface will make alot more difference then a newer computer. I have a macbook pro (late 2008 2,53ghz core duo) and saffire pro 40 interface. Im getting 7ms-8ms (roundtrip) at 24bit 48khz...

Re: Bit Depth, Sample Rate and Softsynths
I have always used 48khz for recording audio could notice reasonable difference in quality without too much stress on CPU. Had heard one day that softsynth sounded better when at 96khz. Was shocked at difference in sound when I tried it with operator. It sounded deeper and fuller. Too bad 96khz is t...

Re: Bitwig looks shit...
They're even bringing out a native modular system ffs! Yes, a real one. Not some gene-splice hack-job like Ableton did with m4l. Am I the only one who's noticed that most of Live's "improvements" since 7 have been little more than license agreements with other companies? Here's a quick list: Collis...

Re: Some Love for Focusrite Saffire 40
I have my saffire pro 40 since 2010 and its been rock steady since. Preamps are very nice and clean enough gain. Like the LED meters alot. Latency are acceptable but wish I had an RME on that end. No real complaints execpt maybe that the headphone outs use up some the outs on the back (output 7/8 an...

Re: Digital mixer with Ableton, good or bad idea
Yeah I think the UFX is probably the best bet. It will lower your latency in ableton give you better converters and alot of inputs. You can trade your steinberg for an octopre and get a control surface. What do you want to do with your control surface? The Apc40 is pretty well integrated in ableton....

Re: Digital mixer with Ableton, good or bad idea
[quote="Kibosh"][quote="102455"] The mixer has a 0.5ms latency, and with my Steinberg I'm at 10ms overall. I think for latency I'm safe.quote] I think that 0.5ms is internal latency. Dont think you would get that type of performance using it an audio interface with Ableton. If you use all outbord an...

Re: Ableton CPU Time To Upgrade?
Yeah the thermal issue could be it. You said you had two ssd internal into your MBP?
Maybe they are drawing too much power from the power supply. Does the spot were you connect the charger get really hot when you get the issues?
