...quite often i would like to duplicate tracks with particular midi sequencers driving them (e.g. euclidean, or 4PLAY etc)...

...but teh sequencer is then re-set to default state when I do this. Find this frustrating!

...to be clear on the distinction here, once the input is received the scaled midi would be “committed to print” rather than forever dependent on the presence of that midi effect, if that makes sense.

...so I would apply a scale to a channel/device, then all midi input from a (non PUSH) midi keyboard would simply snap to nearest note in scale upon playback + recording

This is how I have historically used the NI Komplete Kontrol software, but would be cool to have it built into ableton.

...god it's so strange. I wonder how much of it is a change in the way the monitoring works vs reality? ...but then I guess i truly did have a big drop out and crash the other day... ...weird - the people who seem to get best performance seem to be those who invest in fully formed power macs i'd say?
