Re: New Clip with a length of 4 bars automatically

This is great, as it solves how to create a clip of a given length in the Arrangement view. The other information above shows how to create a clip of a given length in the Session view. Strangely clip length in the Arrangement view is defined by the grid size, whereas clip length in the Session view...

MIDI Clip Insert Marker and Play Start Location

In Live 11 when editing multiple MIDI clips I'm unable to play from the MIDI clip Insert Marker when pressing OPT-Space (Mac). This only works when editing a single MIDI clip. This appears to be a bug with the multiple clip editing. Instead, I prefer that playback always starts from the MIDI Insert ...

Re: New Clip with a length of 4 bars automatically

Thanks, nice idea, but this doesnt work. I tried it like you said, but the clips are still 1 bar long :( Strange. Are you running Live 11? Haven't tried it on an earlier version, but it's working for me on 11. Here are some things to check. Quantization needs to be set to the number of bars you wan...

Re: New Clip with a length of 4 bars automatically

Here is a kludge that works. Set the Quantization to 4 bars. Set the Metronome's Count-In to None, so that you don't need to wait for the metronome to count in when doing this. Go to Session View. Arm the track for recording that the clip will be on. Select the location on the armed track where the ...

Re: Which Mac?

I always use a separate machine for work. Often IT for the company has rights to install spyware or other junk that will slow your machine down. In some companies, they also have rights to wipe your machine clean remotely at any time. If you work for yourself that's a different matter, and you can d...

Re: Can't start playback where midi edit marker is (vs. arrgmnt)

Quite amazing that this thread started 7 years ago and the limitation still remains. This is an obvious UI inconsistency between the track and clip areas in the arrangement view. Clicking in the clip empty space should set the play start point as it does in the track area. Otherwise there doesn’t se...

Re: Which Mac?

I would get Live 11 if you are venturing into a new M1 Mac running Big Sur. Those are two factors that may be an issue with Live 9, and will be compatible with Live 11. I’m running an M1 with Live 11 and it is good so far. I expect it will only get better when native M1 support is in. If you have be...

Re: Orchestral packs: poor range

You could sample them all individually note-by-note in the sampler or simpler device. But I wouldn't venture down that path, as it would take a very very long time. Instead I would buy Halion Sonic 3. The factory library should nicely cover all of the typical instruments. It does need their e-licens...

Re: Orchestral packs: poor range

Sampled acoustic instruments included in the box with Live are admittedly not its strong suit. You have to move up to the Suite version to get them, and you’ll still find something better elsewhere at a lower price point. Cubase and Logic are probably the best DAWs for the included sampled acoustic ...

At least allow any number of Collections, and allow nested folders inside of them. That would enable creating the desired folder structure manually.

Re: More collection colors?

+1. More collections. Abandon the colors entirely and have nested folders. That would be much more useful than a flat set of only a few colors.

Re: Ableton, It's time....

Look what happened to Reason, you have to innovate but also compete with the other options that might entice your users to leave. Well stated, especially this point. Reason should be a motivator for what not to become. Live has to compete with the other DAWs in terms of features for recording and c...
