Re: plug ins

All the Soundtoy plugins are good at what they do. If I only had one Soundtoys plugin it would be Echoboy, it does a good job of emulating a very wide range of delays and sound very musical. At least, it does to me. Tremolator is very good, as is Little Plate. I think Waves Abbey Road plate reverb i...

Re: MP3 - Bad sound

There are many possible reasons. Ideas. Check Live’s master bus is not going into the red. Ideally tracks should not either. Check the audio interface’s channels or master are not going into the red. Other playback software may be adding eq or compression that Live is not. Other sounds Live is playi...

Re: Is there a way to have ableton recognize an older keyboard

If the keyboard is connected to the MIDI sockets on the Mackie Live almost certainly won't show the keyboard itself in preferences. What it will show is the MIDI ports on the Mackie. Devices using MIDI over USB can identify themselves over the USB link via their driver or the OS if they're class com...

Re: Audio Dropouts while live on festival!

Ableton recommend at least an i5 cpu for Live 10. Downloading and running latencymon.exe might be useful, it can monitor the system and identify any drivers or utilities which are likely to cause issues for audio production because they hold Windows attention long enough to result in the audio buffe...

Re: Likely causes of audio breakup under load.

If cpu overheating is potentially the problem Intel’s free Power Gadget might help to diagnose it. It also shows what the cpu is doing in ways the OS utilities don’t.

Re: Rendered Latency

Here’s what I think (famous last words) is going on. The original audio track wave form shows the audio as recorded - that is, before any processing done to that audio by plugins on the track. When the track is rendered/frozen the wave form shown is for that track as it now is - i.e. after the plugi...

Re: Rendered Latency

The audio driver buffer has no effect on freezing/rendering - those operations are done internally by Live and don’t use the audio driver. As Tarekith says, the problem might be Live re-warping the tracks when loaded into a new project and not quite getting it right.

Re: Big help needed with Live guys !!!!

I’m currently running Mojave without problems, though I didn’t have the problems you describe when using High Sierra either. My audio buffer is rarely set above 256 and usually set to 64 or 128 samples (RME UFX connected using a Thunderbolt 2 to Firewire adaptor). I did see Live 10 crashes under Hig...

Re: Magroove?

Magrove’s wabsite says nothing at all about who they are, what they do, where they”re based. Just links to facebook, g+ and spotify login pages - as in they ask for your facebook etc. login name and password. It asks “Let’s find some new songs?” and has a text entry box reading “give me a song yo”. ...

Re: A couple of mastering questions from a rookie

If a mix sounds good on its own and the track won’t be on an album the only mastering of digital that’s often required is to raise the peak volume to a suitable point, dither it down if necessary and maybe manage the dynamic range some. Audio intended for different formats - MP3, wave etc. - can som...

Re: macOS CPU performance related to WindowServer

No laggy visuals, no laggy anything. Live looks exactly the same and behaves exactly the same.

Except Live’s cpu usage drops like a stone. On my Mac from 30+% for a new project with no audio, plugins or MIDI in it and audio dropouts once the meter hits 35% to 5-6% and still stable at 70%+..

Re: OS X Yosemite audio dropouts

Which OS? I can’t remember Yosemite in enough detail to be sure, but certainly under the more recent OS versions most of that stuff can be done in system preferences and that will stick. There are also alternatives to some of the suggestions that might actually be more useful. For example the freewa...

Re: Guitar Recording Effects

This is a guess, but from the sound it might have been recorded straight to the mixing desk while using a distortion pedal of some sort. Possibly a Boss DS1 or similar bright toned pedal. Not even sure if the guitar is a Strat, but without being filtered by an amp and speakers electric guitars can b...

Re: Unlink Duplicated MIDI Tracks?

I created a MIDI track with a synth plugin on it (Monark/Reaktor) and then duplicated that track so that I have FOUR separate tracks. I don't have that particular synth but I've tried duplicating you issue using several synths and I can't, at least not if each track holds a separate instance of the...

Re: Specifics of Copyright/EULA (Section 5c)

A cheaper approach would be to join the local musician’s trades union/association (Musician’s Union in the UK) and ask their advice. They may still suggest talking to a lawyer, but at least can point you in the direction of a lawyer who understands the specific legal issues involved and charges a re...
