Re: Anyone try big Sur yet? Live won't open for me.

Is there really anything you need in Big Sur? I’m still on Mojave with zero reason to upgrade. I only upgraded to that to test Luna. I’ve got an order in for a ‘build to order’ 27” 2020 iMac, which in theory should be delivered by the 20th. My MBP is starting to show its age and I’ve been speccing ...

Re: Anyone try big Sur yet? Live won't open for me.

There is a definite issue with Big Sur Beta 4, just grey screens, no content. There’s always issues with betas. Which is why, unless you’re a developer who needs to check if your software needs to change, it’s generally a bad idea to try and use a beta for actual work or in the expectation things w...

Yes it freezes even when Live isn't running
So it freezes when not connected to a computer? If so then it sounds like the synth is faulty.

Re: Mac update/Ableton compatibility

Live 9 contains 32 bit code. Mac OS from Catalina onwards can not run 32 bit software. I can’t see Ableton updating 9 to replace the 32 bit code when 10 is already 64 bit compliant. You can kill the annoying update pop-ups though - https://www.macworld.co.uk/how-to/mac-software/how-stop-annoying-mac...

Re: Mixing in mono on a single speaker?

I’ve a “rubbish” mono speaker I built years ago out of a pretty cheap small woofer in a small home-made cabinet and power it using an old mono PA amp. I connect it to a mono hardware output on my interface so I only need to use a standard mono cable. I’ve set Live’s preferences to see the interface ...

Re: Synth keeps freezing

Is it possible the synth is connected to a USB port that is being sent to sleep by the OS power saving settings and not recovering correctly when it should wake up again? When the synth locks up is it possible to switch it to “local on” (assuming it isn’t set to “local on” already) and play it from ...

Re: Ableton Recordings too quiet

Sounds like you need to look into mastering techniques, using compression, limiters and eq to set the final peak and average volume of the track. Commercial recordings usually go through a post-mixing stage, “mastering” where their volume etc. is finalised. There are lots of videos on youtube about ...

Re: Using Amplitube4 with Ableton Live 10 Intro

Amplitube works as a plugin for me with no problems. If the audio track it’s on is receiving audio then the plugin should work. I suggest you check your track routings to make sure the correct input is being sent to the correct track. Also check the track monitoring switch - to hear what you are pla...

Re: Routing outputs while not connected to interface.

I did think about maybe a usb interface with outputs to presonus but I thought the firewire would give me less latency / better control. Firewire and USB have pretty much the same performance nowadays and have for some time. Except that getting firewire working on a PC can be a bit hit-and-miss and...

Re: Controlling android devices via midi from Live 10

I can’t help you with the phone side of things (we’ve used iPhones for years, but never android). On the Mac side if you’ve connected the phone correctly it should show up in the Mac’s Audio/MIDI Setup application as an available device. Though it may need activating in there. My iPhone and iPad sho...

Re: Routing outputs while not connected to interface.

Touchable Pro is OK, I at least find it useful. Try the “non-pro”version and see what you think. There are other control surfaces, of course and something with a lot of knobs might meet your needs better. And no control surface will get you around having to re-assign tracks or groups that don’t outp...

Re: recoded audio slowing down

There’s a box in the loop window that indicates the speed Live thinks the audio was originally recorded at. If it’s wrong you can click in it and type in the correct tempo.

Re: recoded audio slowing down

I very much doubt it's a Mac issue, I record audio into mine all the time and the only time I see that kind of timing weirdness is if the clip has warp/loop on and Live's guessed the clip's original tempo wrongly.

Re: Abelton 10 with Behringer 303

Live will be feeding everything through whatever interface/sound card is available, in your case presumably the Mac’s built i sound chips. To use headphones with a 1/4” plug you will need a suitable adaptor, there are countless ones available. Try searching Amazon for minijack to jack headphone adap...

Re: Audio stem headroom

my take/opinion on this, as a noob here... thinking out loud, it helps a lot... in the parlance the terms D/A converter, circuit, math are all the same thing Not really, though all are digitally controlled processes that do sums. A digital to analogue (D/A) convertor is a hardware chip. Sure, it ru...
