Re: Ableton 10 live, best vocal settings/effects

And to those criticising my singing/voice; I'm not looking at a career, I just sing for fun and erhaps to do some fun stuff with my pupils, I know I'm not great. :) Hey, your pitch is good, you're in time, good tone, the words are clear, you sound confident and comfortable with what you're doing (e...

Re: Audio dropouts on MBP'18 + Ableton Live 10

According to RME (on their forum, look for the threads concerning 2018 Macs, start at the end not the beginning) this T2 chip/whatever issue has caused them and other manufacturers a lot of problems with USB 2 interfaces. They've said a day or two ago that the latest Mojave beta from Apple seems to ...

Re: Ableton 10 live, best vocal settings/effects

Suggestions.... Lower the amount of reverb a lot, and narrow its stereo spread. If you’re using a reverb which lets you pick “rooms” try and find one that sounds warm. You can then increase the reverb if you want to emphasise sections of the vocal, but that warm, “in the room” kind of sound uses les...

Re: DOWNLOADING ABLETON & PACKS to new computer with SSD & HDD

There are lots of ways of configuring a DAW and sometimes one persons' best way isn't the same as another persons'. Personally, unless you are doing a complete install of the operating system as well as Live I'd leave plugins where they are and put the samples on the SSD. Plugins only need to be loa...

Re: Suggest what it's worth to record in Stereo

I tend to record stereo sources in stereo, then use Live’s utility plugin or other plugins to reduce the stereo spread, convert the track to mono etc. if I decide it needs it later during mixing. One argument against stereo recording is it uses more disk space, disk throughput and computer overhead ...

Not just Macs, Norton’s a pretty effective performance reducer on anything.

Re: Magical 8 bit plugin Setup problems

Assuming you're using a Mac, .component files are Audio Units (AUs) not VSTs. AUs do not go in VST folders, they go in "Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/Components. VSTs go in "Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST" or "Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3". VSTs usually are .vst or .vst3 f...

Re: Live foot controller other than Behringer?

There’s also Roland’s FC-300, though that’s aimed ar controlling their guitar synths as well as being a MIDI controller.

To be honest the Behringer controller is actually pretty good. It’s been around a long time and has outlived many competitors. Sometimes even Behringer get it right.

Re: Is there a basic intro video or basic manual

Ableton’s basic starter videos - https://www.ableton.com/en/live/learn-live/ Live, like all DAWs, is complicated software and has a fairly steep initial learning curve - in some ways it’s one of the most complex DAWs. So yes, it takes some time to learn how to use it. If your band isn’t used to play...

Re: Ableton not saving recording PROBLEM

It may or may not be the cause of your problem, but I suggest checking whichever drive you are saving to for errors or other hardware problems. I’ve seen similar problems with saving files on drives which were starting to fail. Checking the system logs for file saving/disk errors or repeated attempt...

Re: Ableton Live 10 Suite: Midi Keyboard and Latency

So, no solution? I guess something is wrong with Ableton. Shame. If Live wasn't capable of low-latency performance this forum would contain nothing else but posts about it. A few things to try. 1. Go into Windows device manager and disable any wi-fi interfaces be]fore running Live. Windows wi-fi dr...

Re: Cant copy/paste multiple clips in Live 10????

How are you copying and pasting? If you' using a Mac. then I can't duplicate your problem whether I use the edit menu function, keyboard shortcuts (CMD+C, CMD+V) or the clip 'right click" menu. Option+drag also copies clips as individual clips. If I select multiple clips and copy them they are paste...

Re: Midi-Loop of Death when having Plugin and Hardware controlling each other?

What I would like to achieve is to be able to control the drum machine with the VST plugin so I can for example automate it. But I would also like to work on the machine and record whatever I do on the hardware as an automation. From what you say it does sound like you might have a MIDI feedback lo...

u can turn off the MIDI out it would solve it too, obviously.
Plugin hardware synth editors usually - as in I can't think of one that doesn't - use MIDI to communicate with the synth, so MIDI out (and usually in) is required.

Re: Midi clock stopped working

A couple of suggestions - 1. Check the synths are set to receive MIDI clock and act as a slave, not set to respond to their internal clock. 2. Check Live isn’t set to sync to an external MIDI clock source, e.g. whichever of your synths is letting you control Live’s tempo. If any MIDI input has sync ...
