The track monitoring function sounds like what you are looking for. It allows monitoring of incoming audio through Live and any processing applied to the audio will also be audible while tracking.
To monitor a track’s input set the monitoring function to “in”, or record arm the track and set ...

Re: The chance of zero latency
Again nothing is impossible that's limited thinking. I think it will require someone to see outside the problem and come up with a solution that will resolve it.
Some things are impossible with current technology, and due to the nature of the time-space continuum of our universe are very likely ...

Re: OLD MacBook and SSD card.
One factor no-one’s mentioned is that a USB SSD can not be sent TRIM commands by a Mac. Thunderbolt can handle TRIM though depending on the OS version it may be necessary to use the trimforce command to switch it on.

Re: Mediocre Ableton performance on new iMac 2020?
For example, I have a reasonably 'heavy' project that hits the CPU meter at 60-70% on my Mac Book Pro – but it still touched 40% CPU reading on the new iMac.
if you’re referring to the performance meter in Live that is not simply a cpu meter. It’s intended to give an idea about how well the ...

Re: MacOS Big Sur and M1 (Apple Processor) support
How soon could one expect help in the form of updates
The answer to that is “how long is an elastic band?”
Some software and hardware companies catch up with the annual Apple big updates quite quickly, others take longer. Much depends on exactly what the problems, if any, actually are. Simple ...

Re: Keith McMillen Sticky?
It’s a problem that some plastics suffer from because over time they react with the air or release as a gas some of whatever constituent chemical makes them not be sticky.
There’s a lot of suggested ways to deal with the problem, including trying to wipe it off with isopropanol alcohol. Though once ...

Re: Ableton Live 10 Lite not rendering all notes
Firstly, the audio interface and driver used have no effect on rendering for export. Live, like most/all DAWs, does the necessary maths without using either, other than letting you hear playback.
Your second post might well correctly identify the problem and its solution.

Re: A way to reliably keep Date log of “.als lastly opened”
Jesus how can i bee so stupid?
Well, if you’re stupid so am I. My first thought was it’s the kind of thing often easiest done from a terminal shell, so I did a quick search and found the method I suggested. I’d simply forgotten about adding columns to the finder displays.
As for Terminal ...

Re: A way to reliably keep Date log of “.als lastly opened”
There are several ways to find when a file was last opened.
If you open a finder window and right-click in the bar at the top of the list that says "title" etc. one of the options that appears is "date last opened". Activate that and it will add a new column to the finder header giving the date a ...

Re: Use tempo control from volca to ableton
I believe Live's CV tools can be used to sync Live to an analogue clocked system, but you need Live Suite to run the tools.
Clocking a Volca from Live using the Volca's non-MIDI clock input is certainly possible with any version of Live. The Korg clock is a pulse wave audio signal which can be ...

Re: Iphone recorded sound to ableton in Windows PC
Even simpler:
Install iTunes on PC.
Connect iPhone to PC using lightning cable.
Copy over the audio file(s) into iTunes then proceed as you suggest. Or burn the audio to an audio CD then import the track into the DAW software.

Re: MacOS Big Sur and M1 (Apple Processor) support
Most reports from various benchmark tests put the 13" M1 MBP at the same processor speed and power as the i9 16", but with no heat, fan noise or other issues.
One concern I’ve seen raised is how well the M1 Air in particular will be able to sustain intensive operations before thermal ...

Re: Ableton keeps crashing on Catalina
Also, does Live 10 works well with Mojave? I have an iMac from 2013 btw :)
There were a few issues with the initial release version of Live 10 but that all got fixed ages ago. Mojave itself initially did strange things to USB audio on some systems, but again that was sorted out ages ago.
As ...

Re: Is there any way to change the adsr envelope of a guitar track?
But a compressor, to my understanding, just boosts the soft sound and weakens the too-loud sound.
A compressor set with a slow attack can be used to soften the “attack” of a sound. Though that’s not applicable to what you want to do of course.
What I want is actually to shorten a long ...
