Answer is re-give "mic" Ableton Live permission in mac privacy in system preferences.

It's not even working properly with Big Sur yet...

Just a quick test and reverted already. just curious about Live if anyone had it working.

Yeah first beta and all, but I tried it, and launching Live crashes right away for me. Logic pro 3rd party plugins ver unstable too. I guess it is too much to ask for carrying over the stability of the prior OS and simply improving it. they have to reinvent the wheel each time to march on. Oh well . .

ipro 10 core here but UAD Apollo X6. No real issues to report that would be due to imac pro. recently I had to bounce live to get the project exported, but that was probably a fluke.

Alot comes down to keyboard techniques, where you have to think like a guitar player. This is probably the single most overlooked and important item to playing any instrument via midi. The most brilliant classically trained pianist can sound horrible trying to play, say a flute via midi keyboard.

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of crackling when in the midi edit window, with notes audio turned on, and when I touch the notes with a cursor which plays the note, or playing and stopping short sections of midi notes while editing, it crackles and stutters. Why is it that simply bypassing (especially mastering plugins) sometimes does not relieve the latency caused by them in the first place. Seems odd. This happens sometimes to me on mac at least.
