Re: Max for Live - first impressions?
I like the idea of an app store and a free / cheap runtime-based M4L version. Those guys who make cool patches can sell them for $5-10 or even give them away for free. Makes the guy happy who spent countless of hours to work on a patch and gives the lazy folks access to a whole world of devices.

Re: MFL $299 USD
$299 is exactly what I expected and what I'm willing to spend. Less than 50% of what a standalone version of Max/Msp/Jitter costs. A cheaper, runtime-based version would be nice, though.

From what I understand, M4L is the result of a collaboration between Cycling'74 and Ableton. I'm sure they will pool the profits.

sure they are..but not more that i am about the "dom"... and the all forgiving userbase is realy a problem with a company that tends toward arrogance allready... ok..a toy is a toy.. we shouldnt take it too serious when a toy is crashing and its my mistake to do updates within month and n...

Re: Max for LIVE price speculations...?
No way this is being sold for less than $199. Max is a beast of a software. I'd rather expect it to be in the $299-ish range. It would be nice if they offer a cheaper runtime-based version for those guys and gals who only want to use ready-made patches. This could go for $99. But from what I underst...

Re: Studio monitors?
I went from some mediocre Event PS5s to Adam A7s a year ago, it was amazing. half my stuff sounded better, half sounded worse. that still kills me... not everything sounded better. they're lots of fun to work with, I used to listen to monitors, now I work with them. Another vote for Adams here. I h...

Re: Live's output volume lower than other audio devices?
Maybe your ASIO driver is set to a lower volume than the other one. Most ASIO soundcards have a dedicated control panel where you can adjust the volume. It's been a while that I used Live on Windows, but there should be an ASIO Setup button in the audio preferences. This opens the control panel of y...

Re: Live 8 keeps crashing..normal on mac books?
Dunno, I think I would go mad when it crashes on me when I play out, but these things happen with software. TB-303's lose their memory when the batteries are empty, pots crackle, Cubase on the good old Atari used to throw these stupid "internal error" crashes at me, every time I had my ult...

+1 for the Echo Audiofire 2. I use it for gigs all the time. Great sounding and sturdy little box.

Here are some useful information about the windowserver_last.log file:

FWIW it doesn't seem to log CMD-TAB actions in Leopard. Not sure if there's a fix for Tiger. Try to update the OS if you have an older version than 10.4.11 installed.

propper measuring equipment is something like that http://www2.rohde-schwarz.com/en/products/test_and_measurement/audio/UPV.html And then you do what? Send the audio out of your interface, back into the analyzer, huh? Very accurate. That's perhaps a good tool to measure the DACs of your bloody M-Au...

Re: Lives sound engine argument again ...
Are you sure it's floating point? It doesn't say in the Audio fact sheet and usually, when you don't specify floating point it's integer. Outside the DAW world anyway. Uhm...to be honest, I'm not 100% sure if it has been 32-bit float since Live 1, but I know for sure that Live 3 was already 32-bit ...
