Official word on Reason 3 and 4 beta compatibility

Anyone who wanted to join the Reason 4 beta testing but didn't because you'd have to uninstall version 3, rejoice. It was suggested to have just one version on your machine at a time for neatness' sake, but the official word from the Props is that you can safely keep R3 installed and run it as usual...

The heroes of tomorrow are people we've not yet heard of. Time does as it always has done.

It's still a big loss to the world.

Goodbye, Dr. Moog. You changed the world.

I'm sorry to report that Dr. Robert A. Moog has died, after a struggle against a brain tumor. Moog's creations helped to shape the musical world in which we live today. Certainly I'd not be the same person had I not learned to program Moog Modulars back in the early 1970s. I thank the health care wo...

I'm always living from paycheck to paycheck with little or no cash to spare, so this will be a stretch, but I'm going to try to join the GB. It's too good to pass up. Any of y'all Live users who like "ethnic" instruments and who have Reason, SampleTank 2, or Kontakt -- take a look at this ...

Niiiice. Thanks for the link. <brag> My conversion of a Sperry-Univac mag card typewriter (looked like a Selectric [which, internally, it was] on dialysis [which it wasn't]) into a printer for a VIC-20 was more drastic, but had far less retro appeal. However, I'd never deign to use a Smith-Corona. I...

The Tassman is hard to beat for physically modelled sounds. Very organic. I also enjoy using Cameleon 5000, Moog Modular V and ARP 2600V, Ultra Analog, Oddity, and minimonsta:melohman, z3ta+, B4 Organ, AAS String Studio, SampleTank, FM7... For drums there's DR-008 and GURU. Got more but those are wh...

We dont really need a full-on skinning app, it would be nice if the skins were stored as XML or perhaps an editable text format of some kind. Yes yes. I too would like this. Anyone could write a skin-maker using their favorite programming or scripting language. I'd not worry if it had The Live Look...

My favorite live skin? That's a toss-up between my mate's and my own skin, both of which are covered with black fur (with stylish white stripes down the back and tail; Millicent's also got white on her paws and front). Mine does a reasonably good job of keeping me from resembling Xipe Totec, which w...

Congratulations, and strength to you. It won't be easy. But you can beat the vampires who want you to stay addicted to their poison. I'm sure you'll enjoy being able to afford Live 5 but that's the least of the benefits that will accrue to you. Good as Live is, a high-quality Life is better still. Y...

I think so, particularly since you are less exposed to its radiation the farther you're away. Apple's 30" monitor is an LCD, yes? If so there's nothing to worry about. CRTs emit significant amounts of radiation, especially the older ones. But LCDs don't operate by flinging relativistic electro...

zion got it right. The Abes have said there might be some bugs left and they'll be coming back to a big list of fixes and enhancements. I'm okay with that. If you wait for perfection you'll never get there. :-) Not to minimize the troubles of those who still have them! I want as few bugs as possible...

Dr. T : One of the greatest works ever from Dr. Seuss, a wonderful artist who is NOT just for youngsters. (Most of his work was done well before his first book for children.) Solaris : The original Russian adaptation is the ONLY filmic version, IMO. Better even than that, read Stanislaw Lem's book ...
