Re: You know you have a Live addiction when...
- You're convinced that if you open the program again, it wont crash this time - You use Cubase and you arrange your work window and mediabay to look like Live - You have no intention of making finished tracks - You download the Skin Editor - You start wondering what Ableton stands for - You wont le...

Re: How the fuck do americans put up with this?
Well, part of the reason is because we're still allowed to own guns. I can imagine for a UK person, that'd be like flashing a nuke on the street. Enjoy being more defenseless than cattle. Yeah enjoy shooting each other over pointless, ridiculous things. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18341338/ More pe...

Re: Keeping the damn master level below 0db
Just turning down the master fader doesnt get around the fact that your still clipping your master bus input. Put an EQ on there with metering, youre still distorting. Sorry but thats just lazy and its bad gain structure - period. Maybe most folks dont care but good gain structure is vital to a good...

Re: Live: no enhancements with point releases... ever?
I guess a lot of people get really upset abou the buggy nature of Live BECAUSE it is such a good program, that its a shame thats it almost there but not quite. Ive had a nightmare of a time with Live recently. I also own and use Cubase and i dont experience anywhere near the same amount of problems ...

Re: Ridiculous CPU Spikes
The vid card is a nvidia quadrofx something or other. Its purposely not too beefy but does the job well. Will look at updating the drivers as they may be quite outdated by now, as Ive just re-installed a system restore done with Ghost that dates back a year or so. Soundcard drivers are up to date. I...

Re: Ridiculous CPU Spikes
hey thanks for the reply modemasters, i will try that out. I just got a new APC-40 and am wondering if it might have something to do with it. Ive also got a Korg MicroKontrol and Behringer BCF200 running also (as well as a Novation ZeroSL which i cant seem to use in conjunction with the APC-40 - it ...

Ridiculous CPU Spikes
So this is not a new problem for me but im yet to find an answer or solution. I randomly get CPU spikes in Live 8.1 going into 200-300 CPU usage (according to Live) and the set becomes unresponsive and eventually a "serious error message" pops up. Were talking about a set that has 3 audio ...

Re: audiomidi no brainer deals
+1 Theyre a real bargain. I've got the Nomoad Factory Analog Trackbob and Blueverb for $15 each. As stated, i guess the vendors involved are using it as an introduction to their products. They get people buying their stuff cheap and are hoping that people will take a look at their other products at ...

Re: Charlie May from Spooky bags the Ableton Sound Engine
I agree with everyone, but i will say that the summing mixers that I've used most certainly make a difference. As a mixer, your job is the pursuit of a great sound and its worth not discounting the many different things that can contribute to make a up a good sound. It wont fix a shitty mix - it is,...

Re: What do we use Live's FX for (and when do use 3rd party) ?
Interesting topic. This is my take: REVERB - Live : Its better for more unconventional FX than standard reverb IMHO. 3rd party : IK Multimedia CSR Suite - the plate verb is partically good for oldschool FX. Altiverb - cannot be beaten for realistic high quality reverb. Audio Damage Ratshack Reverb -...

Akai APC-40 & Novation ZeroSL
Hey there, So i initially had some teething problems with setting up the apc-40 in Live. Seems as though it relates to having the ZeroSL and automap running. Basically, i cant seem to be able to use these 2 units at the same time. If the ZeroSL is connected Live just refuses to recognise the APC40. ...

Re: Charlie May from Spooky bags the Ableton Sound Engine
Running your mix thru a good summing mixer does sound better than bouncing in your DAW, but i dont buy into one DAW sounding better than another when it comes to bouncing. Perhaps this guy is comparing bouncing a fully loaded set with heaps of MIDI/Audio running and pushing the processor, to a proje...

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions
OK, so this might be a dumb question but how do i get the APC40 to be recognised by Live (8.1) got it today. It says that its class-compliant and doesnt need drivers, yet windows xp is asking for them and i have to intall "USB Composite Device". In live the MIDI input and output is set to ...
