I have a LCXL and have set up several custom user midi configurations. Tip: it doesn't work very well on Safari

Re: Play all bars in clip before next clip change?
Could you use a scene follow action and set the length to be the same as the longest clip?

Re: Sound keeps playing after stop
Is it a MIDI track that stays on? You could have Sustain accidentally automated.

Re: creating a track using wav sample packs
Hi David, I find the easiest way in your scenario is to think of Session view as the rehearsal room and Arrangement as the studio. So I use session view initially; one track for each instrument and then use scenes to try out different combinations of samples eg intro, verse, chorus, breakdown etc. T...

Swap the interfaces so the stereo one is first and occupies 1 and 2?

Re: crossfading between scenes
If you have M4L you can achieve something similar with this device: https://maxforlive.com/library/device/2609/crossfader-control Your noises are still on two tracks, alternating clips as above, but set one track with X-fade set to A and the other set to B. Add the M4L device to a MIDI track, group ...

Re: effectively play the session view
You could map individual clips to your controller, so e.g. the top 4 rows could control the clips in the first four scenes in tracks 1-8 and the bottom four rows control clips in the first four scenes in tracks 9-16. Or whatever configuration suits your use case e.g. have some buttons assigned to la...

Re: TR6s: Recording MIDI to a clip in Session view, keeps playing that MIDI even if pattern changes, until I change scen
Hiya, I can't be sure of this as I don't have a TR6S but with that caveat...I think your problem may lie in your routing. Taking the BD as an example, I'd have a pure MIDI track (3 but with no plugin) with the TR6 as the input; this is for recording the original MIDI clip (A) from the TR6 which you ...

Re: BrAND New, I have no idea what im doing.....
Background noise will, in part, depend on the mic type (cardioid, condenser etc.) but in general keep the gain low on the scarlett and get really close to the mic. Check the mic's recording pattern to see where it will pick sound up from and putting it in an acoustically dead space will also help e....

Re: 1 track with several drumracks vs. Seperate tracks
If you're only going to use one drumrack at a time I'd put them all on one track, group them and automate turning them on/off so that only the one you need is on. As for FX, if you want different ones for each rack, you could put the FX after each rack, within the group, and again automate turning t...

Re: volume automation?
Yes I found compressors and limiters need a bit more investment of time than things like EQ to get used to them and how they can help, especially as there's lots of different types that do different things. Experimenting with the threshold and ratio, and then the release, will help you to hear how y...

Re: volume automation?
If you can handle the latency a limiter might help you to keep the dynamics within a section while limiting the max level of the track/set. And if you want different sections to have different maxima you can automate the level of the limiter.

Re: creating a visual interface for live
I've built a M4L dashboard over the last few months that gives me all the info I need when playing live, including current scene, next scene, GQ, song info, setlist, time, track mutes, bars to end of scene, volume warnings, clock, FX, levels etc etc. It was a good way to learn M4L; I started small (...

Set up locators and midimap to those locators. Have a look at From Studio to Stage channel on YT, he covers a lot about controlling arrangement view with midi
