Re: New User...MIDI Automation

Also, are the switches on your Helix set to momentary or toggle? And would it suit your set-up to use the Helix to launch a scene rather than an individual clip? If so you could then map a Helix button to scene launch, enabling you just to launch scenes sequentially (if you set Preferences to be Sel...

Re: New User...MIDI Automation

Hi, could you post a couple of screenshots of your setup please eg Midimap mode, preferences (record/warp/launch), your session view? That usually makes its easier for us to understand the issues. I've used MIDI commands from controllers in the past to trigger backing tracks so it's definitely possi...

Re: No MIDI Master output with Yamaha DTX-Multi 12

Hi, forgive me if you already know this, the M12 can send onboard WAV samples and/or MIDI notes, but they're separate things. If I understand your problem correctly you're able to get audio from your interface so it sounds like you're using the M12 to trigger onboard samples - is that right? If so y...

Re: Setting up Ableton as an SSL 4000 G desk???

This may be a bit of marketing smoke and mirrors. They are probably referring to their TMT technology which gives some slight variability to every channel, as the analog desk would have, so that 72 identical channels all sound slightly different because of the TMT. You can set which TMT is on which ...

Re: Switch Lock Control via Midi Controller

Hi, have a look at ClyphX Pro, it gives you loads of flexibility over controlling Ableton, including what you're looking to do.

Re: I was thinking of getting a Launch XL from Novation

Check out ClyphX Pro too. I use it with my Launch XL and it works great. You can assign the knobs, faders and buttons to pretty much anything, and set up multiple modes that you can switch between. Works with any midi controller.

Re: Best way to record live looping performances with mix of real and soft instruments

Hi, have you looked at ClyphX Pro (assuming you're not on Live 11)? It allows you to perform multiple tasks either automatically or using a midi controller. So you could do all of what you're looking to do automatically e.g. in session view, trigger scene, record drums for x bars, playback drums and...

Re: M1 Apple Macbook Pro Midi Overloading CPU in Live 10

I had a similar issue with my MBP M1, when opening a project from my old Mac. I deleted the midi track and then recreated it and the CPU dropped. I've had no problems when creating new midi drum tracks, only when opening projects that were created before I got my M1.

I hope that helps.

Cheers

Re: Audio Effects

Are you monitoring the guitar channel on the interface rather than the Ableton output? If so you'll just hear the dry direct signal but if you route your laptop and audio interface so that you're listening to the guitar track from Ableton you will hear the effects as well. If that doesn't;t work, po...

Here's a stab in the dark as to what might help - have you turned monitor from In/Auto to Off?

Re: Using Elgato Stream Deck to trigger Scenes

Hi, you can assign a MIDI channel/note to each button on the Stream Deck that you want to be a scene. Then go into midi map mode in Ableton, click on the scene name and then press the button on the Stream Deck. That should link the button to the scene. Come out of midi map mode and then whenever you...

Re: Getting a good guitar sound

You can get a few free amp sims in AmpliTube or Guitar Rig, or you can get 30 day trials at PluginAlliance. PA's sims are pretty good and there's lots of different amps available, so just using the free trials gives you months of recording for nothing, and they have sales quite often so you can pick...

Have you tried using a sidechain on the compressor? That allows the kick to cut through while other tracks are compressed.

Re: Which controller?

Launchpad is great, so I'd +1 jestermgee. As the drummer in our band I use Roland SPD-SX or Yamaha DTX-Multi12 as I can trigger either with sticks. The Yamaha has more MIDI capability but the Roland would be ideal for what you're after. Or if you need a foot controller the Behringer FCB1010 is popul...

Re: jumping back exactly one bar?

Hi, I use ClyphX Pro to do this. I have two buttons on my midi controller; one to go back a bar, one to go forward a bar. Works a treat.
