Re: Use Ableton with Mainstage or logic sounds

There are a couple of YouTube videos that a keyboard player has done showing his set-up. Worth looking at some of the US worship channels too.

Sorry I can't remember the specifics. It also varies whether you're on Mac or PC.

Re: MIDI output

Hi, if I've understood you correctly, once you've dragged the MIDI clip to a track, add an instrument to that track and that will turn it from a MIDI track to an audio track and you'll be able to route that to Master.

I hope that solves it.

Re: Preparing my first mix for a big P.A.

Hi, will you be playing your mix from your laptop using Ableton? If so you could create separate stems for kick, percussion, bass, keys etc. and then eq/mix each stem when you plug into the PA and hear how they sound. You will only really know how it's going to sound when you use the PA in the room ...

Re: CPU overload M1 chip on Big Sur Mac OS

Mine was just a bog standard drum rack with 16 samples in it. Nothing special about it, and other racks were fine, but as soon as I deleted that one the CPU was fine. Project ran about 40% on my old MBP, went up to 80%+ on my M1 and then down to 18% when I deleted the rack.

Re: Volume Scale in Session View is Missing

Hi, you may have clicked on the "M" button in the bottom right of session view (where you can select the ins/outs, sends/returns etc.)?

Re: Switching through sounds during live performance

Hi, I haven't tried it specifically with keyboards but if I've understood your issue right then you could give this a go: 1. Add an Instrument rack to your keys track 2. Create chains for each different instances of sound/FX etc. and map the chain selector to a macro, then midi map the macro to a MI...

Re: CPU overload M1 chip on Big Sur Mac OS

Hi, did you start the project on another machine and are now opening it on your new M1? I had a similar problem when I got my M1 and it was one of the instrument racks on an imported project causing the high CPU. I found the rack by gradually deleting tracks until CPU suddenly dropped from 80+% to 1...

Re: New User...MIDI Automation

Also, are the switches on your Helix set to momentary or toggle? And would it suit your set-up to use the Helix to launch a scene rather than an individual clip? If so you could then map a Helix button to scene launch, enabling you just to launch scenes sequentially (if you set Preferences to be Sel...

Re: New User...MIDI Automation

Hi, could you post a couple of screenshots of your setup please eg Midimap mode, preferences (record/warp/launch), your session view? That usually makes its easier for us to understand the issues. I've used MIDI commands from controllers in the past to trigger backing tracks so it's definitely possi...

Re: No MIDI Master output with Yamaha DTX-Multi 12

Hi, forgive me if you already know this, the M12 can send onboard WAV samples and/or MIDI notes, but they're separate things. If I understand your problem correctly you're able to get audio from your interface so it sounds like you're using the M12 to trigger onboard samples - is that right? If so y...

Re: Setting up Ableton as an SSL 4000 G desk???

This may be a bit of marketing smoke and mirrors. They are probably referring to their TMT technology which gives some slight variability to every channel, as the analog desk would have, so that 72 identical channels all sound slightly different because of the TMT. You can set which TMT is on which ...

Hi, have a look at ClyphX Pro, it gives you loads of flexibility over controlling Ableton, including what you're looking to do.

Re: I was thinking of getting a Launch XL from Novation

Check out ClyphX Pro too. I use it with my Launch XL and it works great. You can assign the knobs, faders and buttons to pretty much anything, and set up multiple modes that you can switch between. Works with any midi controller.

Re: Best way to record live looping performances with mix of real and soft instruments

Hi, have you looked at ClyphX Pro (assuming you're not on Live 11)? It allows you to perform multiple tasks either automatically or using a midi controller. So you could do all of what you're looking to do automatically e.g. in session view, trigger scene, record drums for x bars, playback drums and...

Re: M1 Apple Macbook Pro Midi Overloading CPU in Live 10

I had a similar issue with my MBP M1, when opening a project from my old Mac. I deleted the midi track and then recreated it and the CPU dropped. I've had no problems when creating new midi drum tracks, only when opening projects that were created before I got my M1.

I hope that helps.

Cheers
